- This year’s champion is Gallery TOTO by Klein Dytham architecture
Over the years, we’ve highlighted the weirdest toilets around the world and some of the strangest things ever found in toilets but it never dawn on us to rank the nicest public toilet designs of the year.
Luckily, DesignCurial did all the heavy lifting and ranked the nicest public toilet designs of 2017.
“This year’s champion is Gallery TOTO by Klein Dytham architecture for their futuristic, colourful screen displays; Stegastein Lookout by Saunders & Wilhelmsen comes in at a close second, and Sou Fujimoto Architects’ ‘loo with a view’ in Ichihara, Japan, has made the third-place spot on the winner’s podium.”
The winning designs were judged on their innovation, their relationship to their environment, how they interact with their communities, and on unique or stand-out aesthetics.
All of the toilets are better than you’d find in the public library but #1 isn’t really as impressive as some of the runner-ups. Sure, it’s awesome for a public toilet in an airport but the crapper perched up on Stegastian lookout is really quite breathtaking.
Be sure to check out all ten winners. None of them are shitty.
