Woman ‘Feels Bad’ For Store Clerk And Buys Lottery Ticket, Wins $5M

  • Mom who 'never wins anything' wins scratch-off jackpot on wrong ticket.

Set For Life Scratch Off Winner

People make mistakes. A store clerk made a mistake and it led to a $5 million dollar lottery win.

Oksana Zaharov, from Edgewater, New Jersey, was shopping in New York City when she asked a store clerk for a $1 New York Lottery scratch-off ticket. Instead, the man accidentally handed the 46-year-old mom a $10 Set For Life ticket.

Zaharov “felt bad” about the mistake so she ponied up the extra $9 and took the ticket. She then forgot all about it.

“I actually used the ticket as a bookmark for a couple weeks before I decided to scratch it,” she told reporters after her win.

Zaharov won $5 million. It will be distributed over 20 years. She then receives annual net sums of $172,068 every year for the rest of her life.

The mom who claims she “never wins anything” will use the money to take her family on vacation and pay for her kid’s college education.
