- Well, actually he resigns, but only before they wanted to toss him.
We’re all a little crazed these days, but some of us more than others. Like the city official who tossed his cat during a zoom meeting. Oh, you didn’t hear about that?
Apparently he was drinking a beer during the said city officials meeting as well, and the people didn’t like that. And what’s more is he resigned because of it all.
Here’s the story.
It was during the city’s Planning Commission meeting when Chris Platzer announced, “I’d like to introduce my cat,” before suddenly turning and tossing the cat off-screen. First of all, why the heck would you even do that?
Others saw Platzer sipping from a green bottle during the meeting, too. He decided to make a bunch of derogatory remarks as well, post-meeting, and was heard saying “I’m going to call bull— on you little b—s.”
Platzer sent an email saying that he resigned from the planning commission, effective immediately. The City Counsel was set to remove him from the seven-person panel just days after receiving his resignation.
“I did not conduct myself in the Zoom meeting in a manner befitting of a planning commissioner and apologize for any harm I may have inflicted,” Platzer wrote in the email.
“I serve at the pleasure of the council and no longer have that trust and backing. I extend my gratitude to those who have supported me during my tenure. I have always felt that serving Vallejo in a voluntary position is honorable because Vallejo is worth serving. We are all living in uncertain times and I certainly, like many of you, am adjusting to a new normalcy.”
The mayor of Vallejo, Bob Sampayan, where Platzer served voluntarily on the committee said that “decorum needs to be followed for each and every public meeting.”
“This hurts the credibility of the city,” Sampayan added. “What happens if a developer is watching the meeting (and sees that)? They would obviously have concerns about the city.”
And yes, Platzer, we all too are adjusting to a new normal, but we aren’t throwing our pets in the middle of public meetings, and drinking during them, for that matter. (At least not visibly, DUH.)
