Have you ever heard of the ‘National Day of’ holidays? Not only are they weird and random, they are also super fun and celebratable. Here are some of the weirdest ‘holidays’ of the beginning of the month of November
November 1st is National Calzone Day. So if you love pizza, wrapped in dough and dusted in garlic and Italian spices, you may learn to love this holiday more than your own birthday. You can also celebrate National Authors’ Day, Family Literacy Day, Cook For Your Pets Day, Vinegar Day, Deep Fried Clams Day, and Brush Day. Plus, if there is a man in your life, the first Thursday of November is National Men Make Dinner Day and they must cook, no BBQ’ing allowed!
All those ‘National Day of’ holidays are on the 1st, whew! What’s left for the rest of the month? Well, a lot.
November 2nd is National Ohio Day, National Deviled Egg Day (yum,) Traffic Director’s Day that is on the 2nd unless that’s a weekend day, and then it’s on the following Monday, and National Jersey Friday, which is celebrated on the first Friday of November.
November 3rd is National Housewife’s Day, National Sandwich Day, and National Bison Day, which is celebrated on the first Saturday of November.
November 4th is the day to celebrate National Chicken Lady Day (whatever the heck that is,) National Candy Day (because of all the leftover Halloween candy?) and Daylight Savings Time ends the first Sunday of November.
November 5th is National Doughnut Day and National Love Your Red Hair Day. Red heads unite! The first Monday of the month is Color the World Orange Day to spread awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS/RSD). And the first Monday of the month is also known as Job Action Day.
November 6th is National Nachos Day and Saxophone Day. Let’s eat all the nachos, who’s with me?
The 7th of November is National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day, for all our puppy pals and the first Wednesday of the month is National Stress Awareness Day.
November 8th is National Cappuccino Day, National Harvey Wallbanger Day, National Parents as Teachers Day, and National STEM/STEAM day which is a day to influence and inspire kids to explore and pursue their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
November 9th is National Louisiana Day, Microtia Awareness Day, and National Scrapple Day.
The 10th is the Marine Corps Birthday, National Forget-Me-Not Day, and National Vanilla Cupcake Day.
National Sundae Day, Veterans Day, and International Singles Day are all celebrated on November 11th.
November 12th is National French Dip Day, National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day (HA,) and National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day. So pizza with everything but no anchovies allowed on November 12th!
November 13th is World Kindness Day and National Indian Pudding Day. What even is Indian pudding?
And the food that is covering the nation in everything, pickles! November 14th is National Pickle Day, National Spicy Guacamole Day, and National Educational Support Day. Professionals Day is also celebrated on November 14th or the Wednesday of American Education Week.
November 15th is National Rural Health Day, National Bundt (Pan) Day, National Philanthropy Day, National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day, National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day (what the hell is a hermit cookie?) National Raisin Bran Cereal Day, and America Recycles Day. Also, the Thursday before Thanksgiving is Great American Smokeout Day.
Which day is your favorite ‘National Day of’ in early November? I think for me I would have to say either National Pickle Day or National Deviled Eggs Day. Watch for part two, also known as the last half of November’s ‘National Day of,” post so you will know what you can celebrate for the end of this month.
