8 Unbelievable Push Presents

1The reality show star's million dollar push gift

Push presents are becoming all the rage, and it seems like Kim Kardashian has received one of the most expensive gifts to date.

In November 2015, Kim took to her website to dish on the concept of a special gift after giving birth, and found that she has more than a few supporters: "Do you guys believe in a push present? I never did, but all of my friends do," the 35-year-old wrote. "We have the funniest e-mail chains discussing it. One friend got a special diamond ring she always wanted, and another friend got a new car! I like the idea of a push present—after nine months of pregnancy it's a sweet and well-deserved thank you. We women go through an entire pregnancy carrying a baby...of course it only makes sense that we get something amazing to show how amazing we are!"

Kardashian wanted a $1 million Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker as a push present for giving birth to her second child, Saint West, and it looks like she got just what she wanted from Kanye. She showed the gift off in a series of selfies on social media platform Snapchat, while on the way to the wedding of Dave Grutman to Brazilian model Isabela Rangel in Miami.

2The celebrity mom who bought herself a very practical push present

After giving birth to her adorable daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, Chrissy Teigen took matters into her own hands by giving herself a push present.

The former model and wife of singer John Legend erred on the practical (and cheap) side—she bought a perineal irrigation bottle. If you're scratching your head trying to figure out what this is, you're not alone. When a woman gives birth, her perineal area, or the space between her vagina and her anus, can stretch and even tear. That's where this bottle comes in—it can be filled with water and shot in that area to ease discomfort and irritation.

3The actress who received a push gift—despite giving birth via surrogate

In 2011, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban became proud parents of a baby girl via a surrogate mother. Faith Margaret Kidman Urban was born near the couple's Nashville home at the Centennial Women's Hospital on December 28. Despite not having the baby herself, it didn't stop Kidman from getting a push gift—Urban purchased a diamond and emerald cross for his wife. We sure hope the surrogate got a little something extra for her effort as well!

4The royals following the push present trend

Even royals are in on the push present trend. When Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to Prince George in 2013, Prince William allegedly presented his wife with a stunning gift to mark the birth of the couple's first-born son. It is believed he commissioned a brooch with a pink diamond smack in the middle. The pink diamond is a nod to his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. According to the Royal Collection Trust website, Queen Elizabeth's Williamson Diamond Brooch is considered "the finest pink diamond ever discovered."

Prince William is following in the footsteps of his father who gave Princess Diana "a necklace of diamonds and pearls with a sparkling heart at the center. He also bought her a solid gold 'W' to add to her charm bracelet."

5The eccentric director who gave his wife biker boots as a push present

Instead of diamonds, filmmaker Tim Burton gifted Helena Bonham Carter four pairs of biker boots as a push present after the actress gave birth to their daughter, Nell. The quirky duo split after 13 years, but we were rooting for them to as a couple. Carter once explained that they lived in adjoining houses. “My house looks like something out of Beatrix Potter,” the actress said, “but if you go over to his house, you're in an entirely different place. He's got slime balls and dead Oompa-Loompas lying around, and skeletons and weird alien lights.”

6The rapper and actor who doesn't like the push present trend

Rapper, actor and talk show host Ice-T isn't down with the push present trend. While filming a segment of Ice & Coco, he said, "Are you sitting there holding the baby like, ‘oh that's beautiful, but where's my gift? Come on, where's my ring though?'” He later adds: “I think if you appreciate your wife, and she's been through a struggle you can give her a gift, but it shouldn't be demanded.”

As for wife Coco, she said she didn't expect anything—though Ice did promise to take her somewhere rather interesting:

7The Nollywood actress who received $29K in push presents

Push gifts are becoming popular worldwide. Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh, who welcomed her first child—a baby boy—on February 17, 2016, is still all smiles. Why? Because her husband, Oladunni Olakunle Churchill, gifted her with a Chopard wristwatch and Zadok Houston neckpiece. Churchill spent a whopping $29,000 (N6 million) on both pieces of jewelry.

8The push gift trend has yet to catch on among regular moms

While push presents are indeed a growing trend, they are not for everyone. An exclusive Today Parents survey of nearly 8,000 found that 45% of respondents were not fans of push presents while 28% loved the idea and 26% didn't know what push presents were.

Etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore said, "Push presents can be given before the baby is born, or even right in the delivery room." She says a push gift is a "nice gesture," not to be confused with an "obligation."
