How Far Can You Drive Backwards, and Without Hitting Anything?

  • Because this Ohio man can drive for over a mile. He did it, and didn't help anything.

Are you a good driver? Most people inherently aren’t. And on top of it, they don’t try to get better.

Then there are people that work hard at driving and are really good at it. And others that are just good drivers naturally.

I happen to be a really good driver, when I try, haha. I am good spatially, I can drive a manual car, and I can back up well, even without the ever present back-up camera

And there is at least one other person out there who is a really good driver, and he lives in Ohio.

Footage shows the driver reversing up the on-ramp, and going backwards, to get out of the traffic jam.

And from there? Well, he just kept going. The driver continued down two other roads and into a parking lot. He was driving in reverse the whole time, for over a mile.

The best part about this odd news? He didn’t hit anything, not one thing! Now he is a great driver!

Besides maybe getting out of the traffic jam, no one is really sure why he was driving reverse and for as long as he did. The Ohio Department of Transportation said that it may have been a transmission problem.

The agency urges other drivers not to do this, even if you think you could manage the mile long, backwards trek without hitting anything like he did.

“Pro tip, if your vehicle isn’t running properly, pull safely to the side of the road and call for assistance,” the agency wrote on YouTube. “Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident.”

Someone comment on YouTube to ask the department if this footage was real. “Unfortunately, yes.” was their reply.
