Jared Leto, The Joker
Jared Leto was The Joker in Suicide Squad in notorious casting. One of his fans sent him an ear. A whole ear!! It had a note that read, “Are you listening?” He never found out who sent it. But what did he do? He poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace. Is he ever NOT the Joker?
“Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me. That was very strange. A whole ear. The Van Gogh move. The note just said, ‘Are you listening?’ I never knew who it was. Who’s missing their ear out there . . . I poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace!” He told a British radio station.
Internet sleuths argued the ear in the photo Leto posted to Instagram (now gone) is actually a prop, sold to consumers under the name Bill Oberst Jr.’s Severed Ear
“I, myself, am the strange and unusual”
But Leto doesn’t only have strange fans, but got a little bit too into character during filming…
The famous actor of the Joker in Suicide Squad was said to never have been himself during filming. His co-actor, Will Smith (A.K.A. Deadshot) said that he worked with Leto for six months, but never actually met Leto, only the Joker. “We’ve never said ‘Hello’ or ‘Good day.’ I’ve only ever spoken to him with me as Deadshot and him as The Joker. I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ Not a single word exchanged off-camera. He was all-in on the Joker.”
Leto Would Even Send Gifts To His Co-Actors (Which Screamed Joker)
He sent Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) a live rat, with a nice love letter, (or we’ll take her word for it). Leto also sent Adam Beach (Slipknot) a box of bullets, with a letter. He sent the whole cast a dead hog because he wasn’t there at the beginning of the filming.
