- Because it's apple pie and even if you don't like that, there are other "apple pie" things to be tried and eaten.
It doesn’t matter how you eat it or which kind you choose, apple pie is a staple in American culture and there’s a National Apple Pie day to celebrate it, too.
Apple Pie Stuffed French Toast
French toast is delicious on its own but stuffed with “apple pie,” what could be better? Use a thick cut brioche or French bread so you can cut a slit in the side and stuff it with your apple mixture, basically cut up and cooked apples with added cinnamon and a bit of sugar. From there, dip your stuffed bread into an your eggs, milk, and cinnamon mixture and lay them into a hot pan with butter to brown them up. Once they’re done, remove them from the pan and place each side down into cinnamon and sugar and eat the warmest yet crunchiest apple pie French toast yet.
Crumble Apple Pie
Apple pie with a crumble topping is the best of both worlds when it comes to crumbles and pies. You’ll get the layer of pie crust, topped with apple pie filling and an oatmeal, brown sugar, butter, pinch of salt and maybe some flour of choice mixed together and crumbled over the top before being baked. Caramel Apple Pie Oatmeal
This twist on apple pie is served over oatmeal and it all comes together with the flavors and textures of apple pie and the heartiness and wholesomeness of oatmeal. In a small saucepan, add apples, a bit of water, cinnamon, and sugar. Cook your oatmeal and add your warm apples to the top. Finish your caramel apple pie oatmeal with drizzled caramel and enjoy it warm and delicious.
Apple Pie Baked Apples
For this recipe, core about four apples. Dice up an additional apple and warm it on the stove with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and place your apple mixture into the center of your cored apples. Add mixed, dry oatmeal, butter, salt, cinnamon, and sugar and crumble it over the top. From there, bake off your apples and boom. You have apple pie with a crumble topping baked into the center of an apple. You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the side or a dollop of whipped cream on top. Would you eat apple pie baked apples?
Apple Turnovers
Basically an apple pie filling surrounded by pie crust. Have you had an apple turnover? The fun part is you can add whatever you want to the center of your turnovers. Start with diced apples, cinnamon, sugar but then you can add things like diced walnuts, marshmallows or even chocolate chips. Sure, you’re getting away from traditional apple pie a bit but why not? Live a little!
Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie
This is the best idea and so easy. Line a pie pan with some premade cinnamon rolls and smash them down and into a greased pan to create the crust. Next add in your pie filling. The next step is your choice but a lot of people like to also line the entire top of the border of the pie pan with smashed cinnamon rolls that all touch but others cut up and chunk the cinnamon rolls to add to the top and others even add their cinnamon rolls in a design over the top. What do you think, would you eat apple pie with cinnamon rolls for the crust?
