It’s September, Time For Souptember: Part One

Have you ever heard of Souptember? It’s time for sweatshirts and soup and here are a bunch to try!

Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Who doesn’t associate the Fall with sick season and sick season with chicken noodle soup? There is no better combination and chicken soup, whether blended up or eaten with large chunks of chicken and vegetables, it’s delicious and hearty and perfect meal for the colder months. 


Dumpling Soup

Dumpling soup is one of the warmest and most delicious soups you can put in your belly. And it’s easy, too. Make dumpling dough and add it to your soup base in spoonfuls. As soon as they float, your dumplings are done and your soup is ready to enjoy during Souptember.

Chicken Parmesan Soup

Think a tomato based soup with delicious breaded chicken bites and some fun shaped noodles. Use tomato sauce and paste, adding delicious Italian spices like oregano and basil and a little sugar, too. Boil some water for noodles such as farfalle or cavatappi and throw them into the soup al dente. Serve up hot bowls of soup with your breaded chicken bites and add some parmesan on top to finish it off! This is such an amazing soup to try for Souptember!

Hamburger Soup

For a hamburger soup, brown up a pound of hamburger and crumble it into very small pieces. Once you remove the excess grease, add beef broth and frozen vegetables. Warm the vegetables and add a couple tablespoons of tomato paste and you will have a warm and vegetable-filled bowl of soup to enjoy.

Split Pea Soup with Bacon

If you love the taste of split pea soup from a can but don’t want to eat it from a can, you can easily make it at home. Fry some bacon in a pan and remove the bacon once it’s browned along with most of the grease. Leave about a tablespoon of grease, add diced celery, onion, carrots and frozen peas and sauté them to warm for a couple of minutes. Pour chicken broth in with some celery salt and black pepper. Continue to warm the vegetables to desired consistency before pouring out a couple of cups and blending them and add back to the chunky soup. This will give your soup a creamy type consistency. Lastly add some crisp and crumbled bacon, a small pad of butter and sprinkle some black pepper before you dig into this delicious soup. Will you try this soup for Souptember?

Potato Soup

There’s nothing better than a bowl of potato soup with a huge slice of bread and butter or even toast. Whether you do just a potato base and top it with a slice of cheese or add toppings like bacon and cheddar, this soup will warm you up and keep you full for hours.
