The Guy Who Sued His Parents Over Porn Won

  • Remember this case from earlier this year? Here’s the end of the story.

I wrote about this guy who sued his parents back in April because they destroyed his porn collection. His collection was worth almost $30,000.

The Michigan guy sued his parents for throwing away his collection and is about to receive a large reimbursement from them. U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney ruled Wednesday that the parents owed money to their son for destroying his property.

David, 42, is set to get $75,000 from Beth and Paul Werking, his parents. David won the summary judgement for this case and his parents can file written submissions on the damages until mid-February.

In the original lawsuit, David estimated the collection at worth $25,000. His lawyer Miles Greengard, said that “we have asked the court for treble damages, which we believe are warranted given the wanton destruction of the property.”

He also said, “This was a collection of often irreplaceable items and property.”

David was living with his parents in Glen Haven, on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. This was post divorce for David in 2016.

It wasn’t until he moved to Muncie, Indiana, a few months later that he discovered he was missing 12 boxes of porno films and magazines.

“Frankly, David, I did you a big favor by getting rid of all this stuff. That you would buy and watch films depicting such violence is beyond the pale,” Werking’s father wrote. “I have no words to express the depth of my shock and disappointment. Believe it or not, one reason for why I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional health. I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine.”

David denied any of his porn was illegal and a search done by the sheriff’s department found no evidence otherwise. But with a collection like this, is it really any wonder this guy is divorced?

Good luck David. Good luck.
