- And it's real-ly disgusting.
If you’re whole mouth doesn’t pucker up just reading the title of the article, than you are stronger than I. There was a rat on the grill.
There was a Hawaii-based burger joint in Honolulu that closed after a video was posted to social medial and it looked as if a rat were being cooked. The thing is, this place wasn’t closed indefinitely. Nope, it was just closed for cleaning.
Would you give this place a try after news like this?
Teddy’s Bigger Burgers has closed in the Mapunapuna and there were two employees that were fired after the incident which they shared on Snapchat.
“We are horrified that a former teenage employee would conduct themselves in that way and make such a video of which we are investigating its authenticity,” said the president of Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Richard Stula.
The company has initiated a ‘complete sanitization’ and it’s replacing the equipment and utensils at the fast-food restaurant. Stula made this statement after the video was shared with them several days ago.
“We will then send a corporate team in to inspect and complete a thorough audit of the location before it is allowed to re-open,” Stula added. The restaurant is scheduled to have an inspection from the state Department of Health tomorrow.
The company has also contacted a pest controller. They will examine their restaurants for rodents according to Peter Oshiro, the state’s envirmonmental health program manager.
“DOH appreciates the remedial and proactive efforts undertaken by the restaurant owner to protect public health,” Oshiro said about the situation.
As of June, the restaurant had received a passing green placard. The company is also consulting with attorneys about any potential legal action against the former employees.
“We are horrified a former employee would create something like this trying to destroy our reputation without regard for our 20-plus years of quality and aloha,” Stula said.
It’s gross, but I would give them a try. The incident seems innocent enough and they are doing everything they can, and more, to remedy the situation.
