- You know it’s bad when even punk rockers call your actions ‘disgusting.’
Even among the rowdy crowd of rock stars, punk rockers are famed for outrageous stunts. Ever since the days of Sex Pistols, punks have built a (sometimes undeserved) reputation for irreverence, violence, and heavy substance consumption.
We’re saying this because even against this backdrop, this punk singer’s actions are really low.
Nashville, Tennessee-based hardcore punk group Llorona recently fired their singer, Diego. The singer had been dosing the band’s bassist, who goes by the name Sixx, with estrogen over several months without his knowledge.
Diego’s master plan was to forcibly make Sixx more feminine so he could swoop in and woo his bandmate’s fiancée.
In a way, his plan worked. In a statement published on the band’s now-deleted Instagram page, Sixx said he began experiencing bizarre health problems and has racked up hefty doctor’s bills.
Yet, Diego’s plot fell apart when he drunkenly boasted about his actions — in front of Sixx and his fiancée.
Unsurprisingly, the band swiftly decided to part ways with Diego. And while punk rockers aren’t exactly known for their love of law enforcement, we sure hope Sixx decides to lawyer up.
Hatching a Horrible Plan
According to Llorona’s statement, the bizarre episode began roughly half a year ago. Unbeknownst to the rest of the band, the singer Diego had become “obsessed” with Caroline, the fiancée of the band’s bassist Sixx.
Instead of accepting that Caroline’s heart belongs to another, Diego decided that he would win her over. But how would he subtly work his way between them?
Of course, it’s simple — he’d just force-feed estrogen to Sixx until he became so effeminate that Caroline was no longer attracted to him! Then, Diego could step in, looking “stronger and more manly in comparison.”
The plan is absolutely harebrained, but Diego was unfortunately in a prime position to put it into action. You see, he works (or worked, we can’t confirm anything but we sure wouldn’t keep this guy employed) at a gym and would regularly supply his bandmates with free protein supplements his employer was getting rid of.
Due to his position at the gym, Diego also had easy access to steroids and hormones, the statement from Llorona said. All he had to do was slip estrogen into Sixx’s protein powder and the poor bassist would be none the wiser.
Unexplained Changes
Diego began carrying out his nefarious plot and, initially, it seemed to work like a dream. Nightmares count as dreams, after all.
Indeed, Sixx couldn’t have ever suspected his supposed friend and bandmate when he started having unexplainable health issues. According to the band’s statement, Sixx slowly developed stomach ulcers and began experiencing weight loss, muscle fatigue, and mental changes, alongside unidentified “physical changes.”
As a side note, even the male body naturally contains a certain level of estrogen. Heightened estrogen levels, however, can cause such issues as loss of body hair, erectile dysfunction, lack of sex drive, and gynecomastia — or male breast growth.
We can’t confirm which, if any of these issues Sixx experienced as he understandably didn’t want to disclose such details. We only want to give you some context on the possible consequences of Diego’s horrendous plan.
Naturally, the bizarre health problems also caused Sixx a great deal of stress and uncertainty.
“This tampering has caused confusion and thousands of dollars in medical bills [in] the past months trying to figure out what’s wrong,” the band’s statement read.
‘What He Did Is Disgusting’
For five long months, Diego kept feeding estrogen to Sixx. Who knows where the plot may have eventually lead if Diego hadn’t unwittingly sabotaged himself.
Recently, it appears some of the band members were spending a night together, enjoying a few beverages. Diego, however, had one too many.
“We would not know any of this unless Diego had gotten way too intoxicated and ousted himself,” the band stated.
In his drunken stupor, Diego went on a rant about how obsessed he was with Caroline and how much he hated Sixx. He also boasted about his estrogen plan, right in front of Sixx and Caroline.
Well, the cat was out of the hormone-laced bag. Diego, who later confirmed his actions in text messages the band published, is no longer with Llorona or the hardcore punk scene in general.
After all, who’d ever want to be in a band with his guy again?
Sadly, we’re not certain if Llorona exists anymore, at least in the way it used to. As we mentioned, the band has wiped its Instagram and we couldn’t find any other channels they’re active in.
For his part, Sixx stated he will be meeting regularly with an endocrinologist over the next few months to monitor his hormonal balance. He hopes to figure out where his estrogen level is right now and that it’ll return to normal over time.
“What he did is disgusting and has had an immense negative effect on my life,” Sixx stated.
He also said he would get the remaining protein powder he got from Diego tested for estrogen content. That’s a smart move, in case Sixx decides to proceed to court.
After all, that’s potential incriminating evidence right there.
