- It ain’t easy being Mark Zuckerberg.
Everybody knows Mark Zuckerberg. He’s the co-founder of Facebook, the CEO of Meta, and one of the richest and most influential people in the world.
But that’s not who we’re talking about.
Instead, we’re talking about Mark Zuckerberg. He’s a successful bankruptcy lawyer from Indiana and a kind of a big deal in his line of business.
And he’s sick and tired of getting confused with Mark Zuckerberg.
Specifically, Zuckerberg (the lawyer) is frustrated with Facebook. The platform, owned by his namesake, keeps suspending his personal and business accounts — because they figure he’s impersonating Mark Zuckerberg.
That’s even though Zuckerberg the Lawyer is older than Zuckerberg the Strangely Unblinking CEO. In other words, he was Mark Zuckerberg before Mark Zuckerberg was Mark Zuckerberg.
Now, he’s finally had enough. Mark Zuckerberg has sued Mark Zuckerberg and Meta in hopes that he can finally be Mark Zuckerberg in peace.

‘It’s Not Funny’
Mark Zuckerberg is a very successful bankruptcy lawyer from Indianapolis. He has a long career behind him and regularly gets invited to speak at law-related conferences.
What we’re saying is, he has credentials beyond sharing a name with the Meta CEO. Facebook, however, doesn’t see it that way.
The social platform keeps suspending Zuckerberg’s personal and business accounts over and over again. Every single time, the reason given for the suspension is the same — impersonation of Mark Zuckberg (the CEO).
In the last eight years, Meta’s moderation system has suspended Zuckerberg’s business account five times. His personal account, meanwhile, has been taken down four times.
Zuckerberg isn’t having it anymore, and he has sued Meta, Mark Zuckerberg included, for negligence and breach of contract.
“It’s not funny. Not when they take my money. This really pissed me off,” Zuckerberg the Lawyer told 13 WTHR.
And Meta has certainly taken Zuckerberg’s money. The lawyer has spent $11,000 advertising his services on Meta’s platforms, yet the company still seems unable to tell him apart from its owner.
“I’m Mark Steven. And he’s Mark Elliot,” fumed Zuckerberg the Lawyer.
“And using a false name! Which I’ve had way longer than he has!” he added.
Nobody Believes Him
Indeed, as Zuckerberg points out in his lawsuit, he has been practicing law since Mark E. Zuckerberg was only three years old. With 38 years of experience, he has made a name for himself that others in his field recognize for its own merits.
In his court complaint, Mark. S. Zuckerberg states that he has, among many other things, appeared on several national news outlets, given speeches at top-level conferences, authored books, and given university lectures. Yet, Meta still keeps suspending his accounts.
It’s not just about social media, either. Getting confused with Mark E. Zuckerberg makes his life difficult in many other ways as well
He has even started a website called IAmMarkZuckerberg.com, on which he details the many ways his name inconveniences him.
“While speaking in Las Vegas, a limo driver was waiting for me at the bottom of the escalator with a sign for ‘Mark Zuckerberg,’ causing chaos as a large disappointed crowd had been waiting,” Zuckerberg recalled.
He also shared that he has serious difficulties booking hotel rooms or doing his bread-and-butter business in general. Many times, when he calls hotels or clients, they hang up as they assume Zuckerberg is a prank caller.
And that’s not to mention the money solicitations and death threats he receives that are aimed at the Meta CEO.
“My life sometimes feels like the Michael Jordan ESPN commercial, where a regular person’s name causes constant mixups,” he said.
Still, Zuckerberg doesn’t harbor any real ill will for his more famous namesake. He just wants to be Mark Zuckerberg on his own terms — and has even offered to give him a hand with his professional experience.
“I hope the best for him, but let me tell you this: I will rule the search for ‘Mark Zuckerberg bankruptcy.’ And if he does fall upon difficult financial times, and happens to be in Indiana, I will gladly handle his case in honor of our eponymy,” Mark Zuckerberg (the lawyer) writes on his website.
