Love Knows No Distance: Thai Man’s 1200 km Trek to Propose to Online Girlfriend

  • Often, you have to go the distance to prove your love...

Despite widespread skepticism about finding true love on social media platforms, a 52-year-old man from Thailand has proven everyone wrong. After meeting his better half online, Suthep Lomjit wanted to do something extraordinary to prove his affection and teach everyone a lesson about what true love can do. So, after a few conversations on TikTok, Suthep decided to walk over 1,200 km to meet his online girlfriend. It may seem like a plot from a Hollywood romantic comedy, but according to the Thai source (ThaiBets365), the story we’re about to delve into is entirely real. Join us as we uncover the incredible tale of two unconventional Thai lovebirds.

How Everything Started

One day, the 52-year-old farmer from the Nakhon Nayok province noticed Thanapa Khiaw-on on the social media app. She was selling all sorts of products like dried seafood and shrimp paste, on TikTok, and Mr. Suthep quickly greeted her via the app.

After making the first contact, the farmer ordered some shrimp paste and sent Ms. Thanapa pictures of flowers to show his good nature. Some time has passed without further contact between the two. However, Ms. Thanapa asked him whether the paste was good at some point. While it’s not uncommon for a vendor to follow up on a sale and ask the customer for feedback, Mr. Suthep felt like this was his chance for a real connection. So, besides replying to the question, he continued to talk to the seller until they became close.

Finally, the 52-year-old man mustered the courage to ask his online pen pal if she had a lover. The answer was exactly what he was hoping for, Ms. Thanapa confirming she did not see had been single for around 10 years since her divorce. Then, she took the initiative and joked about asking him to be his girlfriend if not for the age difference. That was the spark that ignited the beautiful love story we’re discussing today. Ms. Thanapa desired confirmation of his good intentions after learning that the requirements for a future relationship between the two had been met. As a result, he was challenged to walk or run to Saturn to demonstrate his honesty. So the stage was set for what was to come!

The 1,200 Trip for True Love

It’s safe to say that the chances of meeting someone online who becomes your spouse are minimal. Let alone someone who would commit to walking or running 1,200 kilometers to demonstrate their feelings. Mr. Suthep, better known as “Maew,” embarked on the once-in-a-lifetime expedition on January 14th after planning for it for months. The date wasn’t chosen at random. The objective was to arrive at Satun by the 14th of February, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Many of Maew’s TikTok followers were concerned about the physical challenges he would face on such a strenuous journey. After all, driving the trip would take 16 hours without stopping or 200 hours with breaks. But, driven by his enthusiasm and the need to show that true love can be discovered online, the farmer persisted. Thanapa, his lover, had prepared a surprise for him upon his arrival, which also served as motivation. Maew continued walking, slowly but steadily adding kilometers to his trek with the help of a small support crew that would check on him and monitor his safety on a regular basis.

A Well-deserved Happy Ending

Suthep completed his 1,200-kilometer journey to Satun on Valentine’s Day after a tough month-long journey in which he lost 10 kg to be with his internet girlfriend, Thanapa. She prepared a wonderful surprise for him in the form of her and her pals all dressed in pink, daring him to guess which one was his internet love. He accurately identified her without hesitation, and the two embraced in a long-awaited and emotional first kiss. But the surprises didn’t stop there, as Suthep surprised everyone by proposing to Thanapa in front of everyone. She enthusiastically agreed, and their fairytale romance was complete.

Final Thoughts

Although Suthep’s journey of love is an amazing story, there are still many other odd and unique sporting events out there. While it’s not advisable to solely rely on social media to find happiness and love, Suthep’s experience does show that meaningful connections can be established online. Nevertheless, it’s important to always be cautious and mindful of potential risks such as fraudulent identities and dangerous individuals. Before embarking on a 1,200-kilometer journey like Suthep, it’s crucial to take the necessary precautions and ensure that you have sufficient trust and reassurance.
