- We might need Hulk from Endgame to explain the logistics behind this one...
Teleporting is an awesome effect featuring in several recent super-hero shows, from Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy to DC Universe’s Doom Patrol.
The Umbrella Academy got 45 million views. There was a video going viral about two/three months before The Umbrella Academy’s premiere. This child seems to be “teleporting” in a BBC Breaking News Video. Flit’s at it again! Get those 64 personalities under control, Jane!
Some of the memes and comments made on Twitter were hilarious…
@steviepattosond replied to a video @TewkesburyLeak tweeted saying: “Wow. @DrWhoOnline needs to investigate. We have a break on the time continuum. Time’s gone wibbly wobbly!” @bendergavyn wrote: “…there has been a glitch in the matrix.”
@duffybloom said: “I am confident (and afraid) we were *not* meant to see that.”
WTF… does anyone else see the child teleport? pic.twitter.com/P0ju9J9cby

Number Five? What Are You Doing Here?
The boy looked like he could be a younger age than Number Five from The Umbrella Academy… What if it’s a warning? We have to prepare for the apocalypse!
What Really Happened
During the edits of the video, the two clips didn’t blend right. Experts say that if you do it right the morphing effect can be perfect. If the object is moving then you can end up having teleporting children or fading objects.
Expert Tom Ritchell explained on Twitter that: “no, this child is not teleporting and yes the BBC edited it… but DON’T GET ANGRY YET. Let’s start with the full clip. So obviously, despite claims, he’s not teleporting (shame IMO). It has been edited, but hang fire on the BBC bashing, please. The edit itself makes use of a transition which uses face tracking. It’s something called optical flow interpolation. The idea is to smooth over jump cuts in an interview or talking head segments. Adobe users like me know it is as Morph Cut. I think it’s called Flow on FCP. It basically takes the two shots and mashes them together. Such a way is a harsh cut between them, which is smoothed over. If you watch the woman’s face repeatedly you can see it moves over to the right in a weird way as the boy appears.”
Is Doctor Who messing with the timeline?
“It’s likely that this is a longer clip and they come out of it early (that’s what happens with live TV folks). When you’re turning stuff around quickly (like this will have been) mistakes creep in. This is nothing more than an innocent coincidence.”
Way to burst our bubble, man! “Sorry to disappoint y’all,” as Tim Ritchell said. So there mystery solved; do we have to believe it, though? What if that’s what they wants us to think?!?
