Florida Woman Refuses to Pay Bar Tab, Punches Cop in the Nuts

  • This is not the way to get out of paying a bar tab.

Police officers do not have an easy job. When the duty calls, they have to be prepared to put everything on the line.

That includes their dangling buddies down south.

A cop from the Sunshine State recently learned the hard way just how dangerous an irate Florida Woman can be. The officer was called to a local bar, where a woman was refusing to pay her tab.

Upon arrival, the cops found Rachel King, 32, who was heavily intoxicated. She had racked a nearly $100 bill as she claimed she didn’t have cash and the bar wouldn’t accept Venmo.

The situation almost had a peaceful ending, as another bar patron offered to pay King’s bill if she would Venmo him what she owed. However, during the transaction, King reportedly became agitated and took a swing at one of the officers.

Her fist connected with his most sensitive parts, and the cop doubled over in agony.

Well, that wasn’t a smart move, and King found herself immediately arrested. She has been released from jail after paying a $17,500 bail.

Yeah, the bar tab would’ve been cheaper.

Routine Call

The nut-cracking events took place on May 6 in Ocala, a city in north-central Florida. On the day, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) received a call from Mark’s Prime Steakhouse, reported Ocala News.

According to the caller, there was a drunken woman at the restaurant’s bar who was refusing to pay her tab. With that, the OPD sent several officers to check out the situation.

As they arrived, one of the officers entered the restaurant. He found that the restaurant manager who had called had been accurate in their description.

At the bar, the officer discovered Rachel King, an OPD arrest report states. She had clearly been drinking for a while, as she was visibly intoxicated.

The manager informed the police officer that King wouldn’t pay her bill. She had managed to rack up a tab totaling at $99.53.

Which means that, considering the prices in bars today, she’d had approximately three beers. Thank you, we’ll be here all week.

‘Extreme Pain’

For her part, King explained that it wasn’t that she didn’t want to pay the tab (although we suspect the truth of that statement). She simply had no cash or credit card with her, and the manager wouldn’t accept a Venmo payment.

At this point, the officer escorted King to the patio to get some fresh air. Once there, a bystander who had heard their discussion offered to pay off King’s tab — if she would Venmo him the money first.

King agreed, but she must’ve been too drunk to do the payment herself. According to the arrest report, the cop had to help her after King gave him permission to use her phone.

Something, however, happened while the officer tried to send the good Samaritan the money. The report states that King became “agitated” for some reason and told the cop that he should “just leave her alone.”

She snatched her phone back from the officer. When he tried to protest, King pulled her right fist “as far back as she could” and punched.

She hit the office right in his testicles. The arrest report states that, as a result, he felt “extreme pain.”

We’d call that more or less an accurate assessment.

A Much Larger Bill

Punching a cop is a bad idea in general, but hitting him in the nads is probably an even worse one. In an unsurprising turn, the rest of the officers piled on King and arrested her on the spot.

A short ride in a cop car later, she was booked into Marion County Jail. Records show that she was released after two days, once she posted a $17,500 bond.

It really would’ve saved her a whole bunch of money if she’d just paid the bill.

That said, she might end up even further in the negative. King has been charged with battery of a law enforcement officer and defrauding an innkeeper of less than $300.

Wonder how much that will add to her tab.
