All the Ways to Eat Oatmeal For National Oatmeal Day

  • Oatmeal is so good, in so many ways.

Cooking oatmeal on the stovetop will forever remind me of gram’s house growing up and there is so much you can do with oatmeal. Here are a bunch of ways to eat oatmeal for National Oatmeal Day.

Oatmeal Bars

You could make these with chocolate and peanut butter like O’Henry bars or sweet with berries or preserves. Either way, start with an oatmeal bar recipe. Bake it off and from there, add your toppings. Preserves would be great to throw on the top or smother with peanut butter and jelly or chocolate and peanut butter. You could also top the warm bars with marshmallows and mini chocolate chips for a S’mores bar.

Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Chocolate and Bananas

Make a bowl of oatmeal, either in the microwave or on the stovetop. From there, chop up a banana and add mini chocolate chips. This bowl of breakfast tastes like a banana and chocolate chip cookie.

Oatmeal Cookies

You can do anything with oatmeal cookies and that’s what makes them so delicious and fun to make. With an oatmeal cookie base, bake off your cookies and let them cool. From here you can add sliced berries and whipped cream or even some candies to the top.

Overnight Oats

If you’ve never had overnight oats, you should really give them a try. They are ready to go in the fridge and you can use virtually anything in them for whatever sounds good to you. All you have to do is combine oats and pour over whatever milk you’d like until you just cover the oats. From there, add your mix-ins whether it’s cut up fruit, chocolate chips or your favorite brand of protein powder. Mix it all up and put it in the fridge. Allow to set up to desired consistency or overnight. An additional mix ins right before you eat it is Greek yogurt. These overnight oats will have extra protein from the yogurt and will taste delicious, too. This is must try for National Oatmeal Day, or the next day;)

Milk and Brown Sugar

Traditionally, it wasn’t a bowl of oatmeal without milk and brown sugar. These days, it’s still delicious in this way though I swap out traditional milk for vanilla protein powder.

Fruit Preserves and Chocolate Chips

Mixing mini chocolate chips and fruit preserves with your warm oatmeal bowl is just delicious. Picture chocolate-dipped berries warmed in oatmeal and that’s what every bite of this oatmeal recipe tastes like.

S’mores Oatmeal

Sweeten your oatmeal with a small sprinkle of white sugar and a teeny splash of vanilla extract. From there, add mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips. This S’mores oatmeal will leave you wanting s’more S’mores oatmeal for National Oatmeal Day!

Oatmeal Pancakes

Adding oatmeal to your pancakes makes them heartier and more delicious than ever. And the toppings could be endless for this as well. A cinnamon and glaze could make these oatmeal pancakes taste like cinnamon rolls. Or you could go the other way and add glaze and mashed aspberries. Either way, you have to try these pancakes!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Oatmeal

Adding chunky peanut butter and seeded raspberry preserves takes oatmeal from yummy to decadent and savory, all at the same time. You could also use creamy peanut butter and marshmallow fluff for a nutter butter oatmeal bowl!
