For those of you who haven’t heard the news surrounding her for the past six months, Greta Thunberg is a teenage climate change activist. The 16-year-old Swedish girl recently sailed across the Atlantic ocean aboard a zero-carbon sailboat to go to a climate change summit. Miss Thunberg will not use planes due to their carbon-footprint, so she uses the zero-carbon boats. Miss Thunberg condemned global leaders at a UN climate change summit on September 16th for failing to tackle the greenhouse gas emissions. You can see her speech on NYPost.com.
Why Is She Being Called A Time Traveler?
Conspiracy theorists are claiming Miss Thunberg is a time traveler because of a picture taken 121 years ago. The photo shows three kids getting water from a well in the Yukon Territory in Canada in 1898. The picture, which was posted on Twitter, shows a girl who looks eerily close to Miss Thunberg. The picture was found in archives of the University of Washington. When released, media users quickly provided these theories.
Is She A Time Traveller?
JackSamStrange on Twitter said: “So ‘Greta Thunberg’ is in a photo from 120 years ago, and it’s my favorite conspiracy. Greta’s a time traveller, from the future, and she is here to save us.” Simon Binns said, “I’m not one for conspiracy theories but she is 100 percent a time traveller.” Despite being found in the University, some people think the photo was Photoshopped.
What Is She Doing Now?
Miss Thunberg has quickly become a symbol for young climate change activists. She led weekly school strikes in Sweden. These inspired similar actions in more than 100 cities worldwide. She is currently on a ride to Europe on a renewable-energy boat. She sailing to Madrid, hoping she be in time for another climate change conference. After the conference, she’ll head home for the holidays.
