4 Weird Places You Can Buy Face Masks, Right Now

It didn’t take long after the CDC recommended wearing cloth face masks anytime you leave the house, for them to turn high fashion. People with any kind of sewing skill immediately began spending their quarantine hours churning out cloth masks for non-essential workers. The hope is that people will prioritize medical grade masks for frontline workers who need greater protection than a trip to the grocery store requires.

Home of all things handmade, Etsy is a treasure trove of cloth masks, available in every print and style imaginable, and plenty of other businesses, experiencing the stalled economy transformed their production lines into manufacturing cloth face masks. From designers to sports teams, here are some weird places to buy face masks.

NBA Branded Face Masks

Show support for your favorite basketball team while meeting CDC guidelines. The team’s logo is printed on a white background. They’re 100% cotton and machine washable and use elastic over the ears rather than ties. All the proceeds from the sales go to hunger-relief charities and the NBA donates a mask to someone in need for every one purchased.

Disney

It remains unclear what regulations schools will operate under when kids go back to school, but Disney’s providing early and easy incentive to get kids excited about wearing PPE. The masks transform the wearer into Disney characters like Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, Baby Yoda, and the Avengers.

Designer Masks

It took all of a month for designers to realize they needed to meet the needs of people who would not compromise aesthetic for safety. Some upscale retailers are providing reasonably priced masks, like J.Crew and Rag & Bone. But for the spare no expense set, masks from Reuben Avenue and St. John will set you back $50 or more. What recession?

A set of four will set you back $30, and they come in both adult and kids sizes. There’s a pocket for a filter, plus they’re organic. Which may not matter, but since no one knows how long we must wear them, better safe than sorry?
