12. Randall Fry Nearly Decapitated by Huge Shark
In 2004 Randall Fry was nearly decapitated by a great white shark in another attack off the California coast. His friend Cliff Zimmerman witnessed the attack. Zimmerman turned away from Fry for a second, heard a whooshing sound, felt the water move and saw a shark fin.
A moment later, he said, “everything turned red.” Zimmerman made it back to the boat and never saw Fry resurface. Fry was found the next day by search and rescuers. He had bite marks across his entire shoulder area and his head was separated from his body.
