Weirdest Real Life Obsessions From Real People

  • Do you have any real life obsessions?

If there are any other weird real life obsessions, let’s hear them! Share them in the comments so we can all know!

  • I am still obsessed with Lego. Everything about it. How the bricks are made….history…user groups…business model…everything.
  • Me? A Norwegian Idol finalist from 2003. I’m not Norwegian. I don’t speak Norwegian. I’ve never been to Norway, but dear God do I love Gaute Ormåsen, even still to this day.
  • Two obsessions: wrapping paper and Crayola products. I had a collection of designer wrapping paper, hand made wrapping paper etc. I had many Crayola products too. When I became a parent I was reluctant to share with my kids, but I got over it.
  • ASMR videos. I can’t stop watching them. What do you think of this as one of the weird real life obsessions?
  • I get bored very easily. Because of this I find myself playing games and making up rules as I walk. It’s kind of like when you were a kid and you were told to “hop like a bunny to the next activity”, or “stomp like an elephant to the playground”. I do things like move in the pattern of the rook if I’m on a tile floor, step on cracks in a Fibonacci order, hold my breathe for as many sidewalk squares as I can. The hard part is doing all this while holding a conversation with people (yes, I get bored walking even when I’m with people)
  • I had an obsession with Ricky Martin when I was in 1st grade.

I listened to his music, drew pictures and wrote my first simple sentences all about Ricky fucking Martin.

Parents show the work to every girl I bring home….

  • The RMS Titanic. Holy. Shit. As a teenager, I had every book and model I could get my hands on. Read those bastards cover-to-cover more times than I care to count, considered myself an “expert” on the subject. Watched the movie when it came out more times than any teenage male should have, mainly for the eye candy. Also Kate Winslet. Still handy in the occasional bar argument/team trivia, I guess. Is this one of your real life obsessions, too?
  • I’ve never worn a wristwatch (well, except in 7th grade when I had an LED Star Wars watch with interchangeable stickers) but about three years ago I was SURE I was a watch man. I spent waaaay too much time researching them, reading forums, and studying eBay. My wife was incredulous. Finally, she bought me a cheapie and said to try it out for a few weeks. I wore it maybe two days and it’s been in a drawer ever since. Obsession terminated.
  • One time, I was probably 7~, there was a two week period where I wanted shove socks down my pants. I would lock my door, shove a chair or something behind it, run to my sock drawer and start shoving. I was like a fiend, it was something I had to do. My parents would check in on me and I would dump the socks and say I was juggling.

The best part about it? Acting like I was a grown up with a front butt. No, two butts. I’d talk about how much of an inconvenience it was to have two butts, and make myself laugh hysterically. So imagine a 7 year old boy running home just to stick socks down his pants only to make fun of his front butt until he laughed until he cried.

  • Weirdest and most annoying that I still have.

I can never truly be satisfied with large purchases. I will doubt myself and get buyers remorse instantly. Recently purchased a new DSLR. Prior to the purchase I had done research and comparison and decided which camera to go with. The moment I have the item at home I start looking online. Checked several places for reviews I might have overlooked or maybe it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Scumbag brain always make me doubt my purchase and never allowing me to enjoy them.
