Weird Disappearances and Crimes That Are Still Unsolved

  • If you haven't heard of these disappearances before some of the may shock you.

These are some of the most famous weird disappearances that you will find out there. Have you heard of these cases before?

The Black Dahlia

This is the case of Elizabeth Short, 22, who was killed and dumped in a back alley in 1947. Tabloids named her “Black Dahlia” due to her stunning black hair and her love for black clothing. After being bled dry and dumped in a Los Angeles residential neighborhood, it was discovered that her body had been dissected to an expert level and one of her breasts had been removed. Because it was a high profile murder, several people claimed to have killed her. Ultimately, her murder remains unsolved and is one of the weird disappearances and murders.

Rebecca Coriam

Rebecca Coriam is one of 313 documented occurrences of people going missing from cruise ships since 2000 and only about 10% of those have been resolved. Coriam was a young British ship staffer who suddenly disappeared at sea on March 22, 2011 while working aboard a Disney Wonder Cruise Ship. The rumors go that she was sexually assaulted, killed and thrown overboard and that the whole case has been covered up to prevent bad publicity.

DB Cooper

On the afternoon of November 24th 1971 a man named Dan Cooper hijacked Northwest Airlines Flight 305. He claimed to have a bomb, demanded $200,000.00 in ransom and asked for four parachutes upon landing in Seattle. As soon as they landed, he traded the passengers for the cash and parachutes before taking off in the plane again. At about 8pm, somewhere between Seattle and Reno, Cooper jumped with the ransom money and his parachute. Crazy enough, some of the money was found in 1980 but it failed to reveal anything more about his identity or where he may be. The case is still unresolved to this day. This has got to be the most weird disappearances on the list and still stumps authorities and the public alike.

Elisa Lam

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old student who disappeared while staying in the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Other patrons of the hotel were complaining about the dark water and bad taste of the water when they discovered her body in the hotel’s water tank. There was CCTV footage of the hotel and the last sighting of Elisa was unsettling as she seems to be acting erratically, arguing with someone off camera and looking behind herself almost to check if she was being followed. Her death eventually came back as accidental, even though she was discovered naked with her possessions floating around her. Though it still remains unclear as to how how could have even gotten into the tank much less how she got the 120-pound lid back on top of her.
