- There are so many twists and turns in this story and her dark side is one of them.
About four months in, according to the Barnett’s, Natalia started to show her dark side. When she sat in the car next to the youngest boy, Ethan, she would do everything she could to upset him. She would try to urinate on him and to defecate in the car and and try to smear it on Ethan. She would open the car door while the car began to move and throw herself out of the car in front of other people, according to Michael.
He also said she would take small toys of the boys’ and drop them as they
walked across the street, baiting them to run back into traffic. She hid a knife under her bed and when they asked what she was going to do with it, she said, “I’m going to kill you in your sleep.”
At first, a neighbor of the Barnett’s said they weren’t very vocal about her dark side and the things happening with Natalia. Kristine opened up to Rachel and said Natalia wasn’t who they thought she was. Kristine talked about the knives and the boys, who were with her at the time, backed her up and agreed with her.
Rachel says she backed away from the family at that time. She didn’t want anything to happen to her or her daughter.
The Barnett’s reached out to the adoption agency, initially, with all the issues and irregularities of the situation and they wouldn’t help, again citing it was a closed adoption. They went through a few therapists and the third or fourth therapist they went to told them they were in extreme danger. The diagnosis was not what they thought.
The therapist deemed Natalia a sociopath. A diagnosed sociopath would have
a dark side and Natalia isn’t any different.
She does normally “crazy” things with a plan. She knows what she’s doing and she’s in control of what she’s doing. One night about 2:00 am and Michael walks into Natalia’s room. It’s dark and she’s standing in the middle of the room with a blank look on her face. When he asked her what she was doing, she said she was waiting for him to go to sleep.
Another night, he wakes up to find Natalia at the foot of the bed with a knife in her hand. She said she didn’t know what she was doing or why she was there. He sent her to bed and sat outside her room for the rest of the night. This is quite the creepy dark side.
Michael says they did lots of therapy and never once thought of giving her up. One day, Natalia asks Kristine if she can help her with anything and Kristine says she can help with the dishes.
Natalia allegedly put Pledge in Kristine’s coffee cup, trying to poison her.
According to Michael, Natalia said she was trying to kill her, trying to poison her.
A clip of her also has Kristine asking Natalia what she’s doing one day and she says she’s reading the bible to get rid of her evil thoughts. This is crazy because it’s actually on video that Natalia “saying” that she has a dark side.
Michael says that Natalia was traumatizing the family, trying to hurt them or cause harm or mental distress to them. For Ethan’s birthday one year, the family went to Traders Point Creamery to go and milk cows.
Upon entering, they need to sign release forms because there’s an electric fence on the property and if you get hurt, the creamery isn’t liable. Long story short, Natalia and Kristine are alone and it’s said that Natalia was forcibly trying to pull Kristine toward the fence to hurt her.
