More of People’s Opinions About Black Friday These Days

  • Because you know we all have opinions.

When I had to show up in person for a deal. Now it’s all month long, with secondary deals coming n December!

Back when they had TVs for $300. They have those everywhere now, and the movies that used to go on sale for $10 a piece never do anymore. TVs got cheaper, but they stopped discounting things that actually matter.

I think it was when black ops 2 was on sale for Black Friday, I also bought a cheap android tablet. All at GameStop’s so it was really cheap. I got $200 cash from my dad to buy whatever for myself for Christmas.

There are already black Friday sales going on. I think companies are terrified what this year and want to start the shopping now. We cut our Xmas budget in half this year.

Probably back around 2008-2010. It used to be actual door busters to get you in the store, now I’m pretty sure they just make shittier versions to sell on black Friday.

Honestly when I was like 10 or 11. I would get excited for commercials and catalogs cause i saw the toys and material things that i wanted. After that i only asked for things i needed and I’m overwhelmed by crowds more so one I worked and started buying stuff for people. Otherwise no way in hell im spending a days off to wait in line or shop.

I care every year since I have to deal with it every year on the “get bitched at over things beyond my control” end. The discounts, I’d rather get out if the store as soon as my shift ends, so I don’t take advantage of them.

I always care. We get the boys together for pizza and board games because people are in town for the holidays.

Many years ago – I learned that Black Friday sales are offered way beyond. I also never waited or went crazy for stuff on BF. The drama was always too much.

Never have and never will. The hassle, to me, isn’t worth saving a few bucks on something I probably don’t need and I don’t rely on it for buying gifts. The only time I cared was when I had an ex that worked retail and I would feel bad she had to work BF and deal with all of that.

Thanksgiving day can be a bit chaotic and ends in a food coma. Black Friday is when you get to sleep in and hang out with the family and chill in pajamas doing fun stuff.

Here in Sweden, the stores ”imported” the idea of Black Friday, without having any kind of thanksgiving tradition or anything here at all. But that probably didn’t drive enough sales.. so then some of them started extending it and calling it ”black week” .. to make people shop even earlier, and get a head start on their competitors… so, pretty much every other company started doing that too. Now one of our electronics chains are doing ”black week sneaky start” where they promise the prices here and now are already discounted as much as it will be, and won’t go down further during ”black week”.. they started a few days ago. So ”black friday” here is now 2+ weeks long… I’m just shaking my head at this point.

In 2004, I stood in line at target to get a 37″ flat screen tv for $350

personally never. I do not think I have ever even taken advantage of a BF sale and the concept of dealing with a crowd of rabid consumers cancels out any discount imaginable. I would rather pay full price for something and not have to deal with the stress.

Never cared but I have been saying for years I’ll get a new TV around that time since it’s been said black Friday is the only day to get TVs at their their absolute lowest price. And I keep getting those cheap crappy roku ones any other time during the year?

Sales are pathetic nowadays.

But those old circuit city brawls were entertaining.

About black Friday… maybe 2010? Whenever the first Ipod Touch came out.

I have a list of things I’m looking for, cleaning supplies, a couple of appliances. If the price is good for the brand I’m looking for. Great. If not, will wait for Jan sales.

“This thing is 100 on Amazon I will wait for black Friday next month”. Black friday: The thing is 50% off! we marked it up to 200 a week ago though so now its just 100! I bet Amazon hates that there are price trackers.

Never have.
