The first of the cheating statistics may be the most shocking! Or were you aware the highest rates of cheating happen in the much older adult populations.

  • The highest rate of infidelity happens with older men between 60-69 years old and women between 52-59 years old. (A decade ago it was men in their 50s and women in their 40s, but obviously, because those who were 40 and 50 ten years ago are now 50s and 60s.. And still cheating. However, when interviewed, 25% of men admit to cheating whereas only 10% of women over 65 do. 
  • When it comes to relationships versus marrieds, 40% of relationships and 25% of married see at least on incidence of cheating. Those who grow up with parents who don’t divorce are only 15% likely to cheat where those from divorced families are 18% likely to cheat. 
  • Statistics show that 70% of married Americans engage in some sort of cheating, even if it’s not sex. 
  • Women are more upset at emotional cheating than men are, with 73% of women saying they’d be upset with emotional cheating where 56% of men say they’d feel the same. 
  • 78.6% of men admit to emotional affairs as opposed to 91.6% of women who say they’ve had emotional affairs.

  • Statistics show women in the medical field tend to cheat more (23%), then education (12%), while men working in trades tend to cheat more (29%), with Information Technology ranking second (12%).

  • When it comes to why, 44% of men wanted more sex, with excitement about it as a powerful motivator. For women, 40% cheat for emotional reasons like attention or wanting to be desired.
