How Do You Really Feel About Christmas?

  • And do you think others would agree with you?

If you really feel about Christmas the way some of these people do, I hope it goes really quickly for you. But it’s fun to enjoy it and make it magical for the sake of the season!

  1. The way I look at it, Christmas is a chance to make things special. It is what you make it. You have to plan and decorate and connect with others as an adult to make it something fun, it doesn’t just get done for you like it was as a kid, and that might just not be what you find fun. But I like showing my appreciation to the people special to me by finding personal gifts, getting together with my friends to eat Christmas snacks and exchange gifts, and finding the beauty in the cold weather and early sun sets.
  2. I agree. I don’t like Xmas. Have bad seasonable depression, have family I can’t stand that put up with bc if I don’t I feel worse being alone. Also the pressure for gifts hurts my wallet and my brain. My fav holiday is thanksgiving (America) bc I usually have it with me friends and we drink and cook and play games and have fun. No gifts and everyone brings food/helps the host so there’s no pressure on any one person. It’s the best!
  3. I worked in retail. thats all i need to say. I think we know how they really feel about Christmas.
  4. If you’re a mom then add the expectations of doing everything: decorating (and then taking down those decorations later), baking, cleaning, hosting, menu planning, cooking, activities, shopping for presents, wrapping the presents, filling the stockings… basically all the “magic” of Christmas. I’ve opted out the last couple of years and we now have a very low key Christmas at my house.
  5. Sick of Christmas. Not the message but the gifts and decorations and the over spending.
  6. Consumerism ruined Christmas.
  7. I’m 41 years old and I love the Christmas music. I want to listen to it right now but I don’t want to risk getting tired of it. The day after Thanksgiving I’ll be listening to it.
  8. To me its the new years eve. For some reason its depressing as shit even as I am surrounded by friends and family
  9. “It’s the season of peace on earth and good will towards man.” You know, if you assholes did that the rest of the year instead of just “a season” the world would be a much better place.
  10. I’m single and I like Xmas bc the lights are pretty, the songs are nice, some not all, and no more sun blazing ur skin to cancer. Sun sucks. We can really tell how they really feel about Christmas.
  11. It’s cool to drive around looking at how people decorate the outside of their houses, but that’s about it. I usually just hang out with my mom and we make food, drink a couple beers/wine and watch random movies. It’s really like any other day except everything’s closed so we have a drink because there’s nowhere to go and nothing to do. Thanksgiving and New Years are usually the same.
  12. We have 4 cats, so we don’t decorate. I don’t really miss it. I don’t watch holiday movies unless it’s Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Christmas Vacation, or The Ref. I’d rather not get or give gifts, especially since I’m unemployed.
  13. I agree. I loved Christmas when my son was younger, but it lost its appeal once he became a teen. The expectation to buy gifts and spend time with family members you can’t stand just because it’s tradition is stupid. We have started making our own tradition, which is traveling to a remote cabin in the woods where no one can get a hold of us. It has really made the holiday better for us.
