All The Weird Piercings You Can Get: Part One

  • Do you have eight piercings and eight tattoos, too?

Did you know there was a National Piercing Day celebrated on May 16th? Here are a the weird piercings you can get and some that aren’t so weird, too.

Nipple Piercing

The things you need to know about nipple piercings are that they hurt. Some people say it didn’t hurt as much as they thought it would, but it definitely hurt. A nipple piercing can take up to 12 months to heal! That’s a long time. If you change your original piercing too soon, you could get nipple piercing bumps. Other things to keep in mind post piercing are:

  • You shouldn’t do any nipple play
  • You should wear tight clothes or a cotton bra
  • Choose the right starter jewelry
  • You will have excretion
  • It could bleed, but don’t pick at it!

Daith

The daith piercing is located in the small cartilage flap of your inner ear. A crazy thing about this piercing is it’s actually thought to help give relief to those who struggle with migraines, thought scientists are still waiting on studies and say, for now, they’re considered anecdotal. Regardless, acupuncturists have regarded the daith as a vital pressure point for centuries. These piercings are known for a moderate to high amount of pain but has a different feel than a helix piercing and is more of a dull pain. This piercing will take anywhere from three to nine months to heal. Do you think this is one of the weird piercings?

Labret Piercing

This piercing is on the lower lip, most often centrally located just below the bottom lip. It’s not the most painful piercing and you will only feel the discomfort once. It takes about two to three months for these to heal.

Conch

A conch piercing is in the middle of your ear cartilage, giving you different placement and styling options. Depending on your ear, an outer or inner conch piercing may be better. The pain level is about the same as other cartilage piercings like daith or helix and it will take about six to nine months to heal.

Forward Helix

This ear piercing is done on the outer cartilage of the ear, front-facing and right above the tragus. You can do a single, double or even triple piercing, all at the same time, with forward helix piercings. As with other helix piercings, the forward helix is likely to hurt at a moderate to high level. In total, a forward helix will take from three to nine months to heal, depending on your body. Do you think these are weird piercings?

Tragus

A tragus piercing is less risky and painful than you think. It’s only moderate as fair as the pain scale. It will take a tragus piercing at least three months to heal, but could take as long as six to twelve months. They say to avoid earphones, earpods and sleeping on your side while your piercings are healing.

Orbital

Orbital piercings are a combination of two cartilage piercings connected with one piece of jewelry. These piercings are found on the helix, forward helix, earlobe and more. An orbital piercing has one of the shortest healing times, at about eight to ten weeks. However, if you get one on your cartilage, the healing time goes back up and can take six to twelve months to heal.
