Operation Santa Paws- December 1st-24th 
This practically month-long “celebration” is actually a call to the public to encourage people to donate to animal shelters during the holiday season. It was started by Justin Rudd in Long Beach, California in 2001. Other groups and individuals have since gotten involved to help the cause.
International Sharps Injury Prevention Awareness Month
Maybe not the funnest thing to celebrate but good nonetheless. December is the month to practice Sharps Injury Prevention including safe handling and needle disposal.
Learn A Foreign Language Month
Speaking a different language is cool and so fun! Spanish, French, Dutch or even Korean, all you have to do is pick one! There are many apps to do this on for free or paid services if you really want to dive in. Will you get into these celebrations for December?
World Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome Awareness Month
This holiday is celebrated to help spread the awareness of World Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome, also called TTTS. This condition happens when blood flows unequally between (monochorionic twins)that share a placenta.
National Car Donation Month
The idea is to give unused cars to people who need them, changing their opportunities and giving them access to things like work, education and independence they wouldn’t otherwise have.
National Pear Month
Pears are such a delicious fall and winter fruit and December is the national month to celebrate them. From baked pears, to pear sauce and even pear cake, there are so many things you can do with this amazing fruit. Do you like fresh pears during the holiday season? Worldwide Food Service Safety Month
Not only in the United States but worldwide, December is the month to promote food safety and best practices within the food industry. This practice started in 1994 by the National Restaurant Association and is designed to ensure standards in the food industry and any impacts they have on health and well-being.
Universal Human Rights Month
December celebrates Universal Human Rights Month. It’s celebrated in the United States to recognize the anniversary of adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. Now, it’s celebrated all over the globe and for the entire month.
Spiritual Literacy Month
The idea of spiritual literacy month is to read at least one book on spirituality. Opening our minds by reading about spirituality, faith and religion reminds us that you can be spiritual without being religious, if that’s your thing. Or even your hold up. This could be good celebrations for December to get into.
Safe Toys and Gifts Month
This isn’t a surprising monthly celebration with Christmas coming, in fact, it feels like it’s right on time. In 2010, there were 251,700 toy-related injuries that were treated by hospital emergency rooms around the United States. And being that 72% of that number was people under 15, safety is important when it comes to gift giving. This day focuses on things like lead paint and small magnets or other toy pieces.
