- Hopefully you cannot relate to any of these cruise horror stories.
These stories are some of the worst cruise experiences people have had. Have you ever had a bad experience on a cruise?
- “I ripped my big toenail off on the balcony doorway the first night of my first
cruise. Had to cancel every excursion I had booked because I didn’t want to submerge the open wound in water.
The worst part was that I went to medical and they sent me away saying it would cost too much without insurance even though we were still within the United States (leaving out of New Orleans on the long journey down the Mississippi River) and I had travel insurance on top of it*. I ended up toughing it out with some scissors, ibuprofen, ice, and gift shop band aids.
*FYI, I went to medical to see if they had bandages because I was bleeding pretty badly. I didn’t expect them to give me any pain relief or anything like that. It was just annoying because they said they couldn’t give me any band aids without seeing me and seeing me would have cost a lot of money. Guest services didn’t have any free band aids either. I bought all the band aids that the gift shop had for sale and then had to buy more in port!” This sounds like one of the worst cruise experiences!
2. “After the cruise ship Carnival docked in Alabama, passengers told of cramped conditions, terrible hygiene, and a “fecal stench”.
3. “I was on a Carnival ship and it caught fire. I bring a walkie with me that can
listen to VHF and when I heard Channel 16 announce my ship was out of power and drifting it scared the shit out of me.
Luckily it turns out ok in the end and not a big deal but holy hell I panicked. We were in visual site of Cuba luckily too.” I’d say a cruise ship catching fire would be one of the worst cruise experiences to have.
4. “On the Carnival Sunshine in 2018 our ship listed and I literally thought we were going to die. We had felt the rocking more on this ship than I remembered with previous cruises so at first it just felt like normal rocking but then it kept going…we looked outside our cabin and people were RUNNING so we booked it too, and after a few seconds we were nearly walking on the side of the wall. In our panic my husband wanted to go to the lido deck to get an idea of what was happening instead of our muster station so we ran up the stairs and when we got to that area all of the pool water was running down the elevators (as far as I know that didn’t cause any electrical issues??). It was really scary. They never really gave us much of an explanation but later we found our it was some malfunction with a stabilizer or something. They gave us like $200 onboard credit and I think if people wanted to leave they assisted them in finding ways to get home. We were pretty scared for the rest of the trip, it just never really felt safe again. Later this month we’re going on our first cruise since the incident (Mardi Gras) so I’m really hoping all goes well and we won’t have PTSD! xD We’ve had about 3 other cruises before that that went perfectly well so here’s hoping that was just a really awful once in a lifetime experience.” No one would want to deal with this or any of the worst cruise experiences.”
5. “Got the good old fashioned Noro on my first cruise. Was at dinner when I felt unwell and in a wise move I excused myself from the table and made a dash for the room. Good thing to as I just made it to the cabin when all hell broke loose. Both ends, not good. Four days later I emerged from the cabin after getting the okay from the medical staff, and yes folks 103F temp really screws with your mind.”
What do you think of these as the worst cruise experiences? Tell me all about it in the comments!
