  • John Jacob Astor IV was the wealthiest man onboard with an estimated worth of $85 million dollars at the time, worth more than $2 billion today.
  • This vessel burned a reported 825 tons of coal per day in 159 furnaces that heated 29 boilers.
  • First-class passengers received a music book containing 352 songs all of which could be played upon request while they were on the boat.
  • There were 13 couples on the Titanic that were honeymooning. Interesting fact to note is that newlywed couples were given preference in the lifeboats.
  • The youngest passenger on the Titanic was two month old Millvina Dean. She was the longest survivor to live from the wreck, but died at 97 years old in 2009.
