- Because as you know, it’s been a crazy year.
Lots of crazy things have been happening in 2024. Have you heard about these crazy news stories from 2024?
Grass Awards
To start the year off, in January, a woman won “the world’s ugliest lawn” in a contest. Kathleen Murray, a woman from Tasmania, credits wildlife for creating the patchy, dry and weedy lawn she calls hers. “I used to think the bandicoots were wildlife of mass destruction invading my lawn, but now I see that they’ve actually liberated me from ever having to mow it again,” said Murray. “I’m all for guilt-free weekends, especially since my ex-husband left with the lawnmower back in 2016.”
Employee Robber
There was somewhat of a reverse heist in February, it seems counterintuitive and it really is. A 51-year-old artist and service technician snuck into the museum after it had closed and hung up his own art in the modern section of the museum. Staff noticed the painting but left it up for the day, nothing that it “did not receive any positive feedback on the addition from visitors to the gallery.” The employee was fired but only charred for property damage regarding hanging his painting on the wall in 2024.
Speed Walking Waiters
In 2024 in March, over 200 waiters dressed in classy white shirts, black pants and aprons carried food and drinks for over 1.2 miles through bumpy Parisian streets. Contestants were looked at for the skill and grace they used to maneuver their trays, how quickly they could move without running and how the food looked when served, after the milage. The winner was Sammy Lanrous, who won for the men’s section with 13 minutes and 30 seconds. The winner for the women was Pauline Van Wymeersch with 14 minutes and 12 seconds.
Bees
There were 50,000 bees found in a toddler’s wall in April and it was no joke. The toddler told her parents she could hear “monsters in the wall” but of course they dismissed her as they said that monsters aren’t real. When the parents did call in pest control, a huge honeycomb was found. No one was harmed and the bees were safely relocated in 2024.
Cat College
Or in this case, a cat getting an honorary doctorate through a college. It all went down in Vermont State College when Max The Cat was given a doctorate of litter-ature for his exceeding friendliness. Max lives with a family nearby but spends his day on campus, loving on students.
And of course, many famous people have passed in 2024 as well including James Earl Jones, Richard Simmons, Louis Gossett Jr., Glynis Johns, Chance Perdomo, Donald Sutherland, Carl Weathers, Shannon Doherty, Eric Carmen, John Mayall, Frankie Beverly, Toby Keith, Bill Walton, Jerry West, O.J. Simpson and Ruth Westheimer.
