Beware if you’re outside late at night. Out of the darkness might come charging the Naked Ski Mask Man.
That sounds like a tagline for a zero-budget Netflix horror flick. Unfortunately, it’s the reality of living in Alabama.
Two small communities in the Yellowhammer State are being plagued by a bizarre creature of the night. He is a man that shows up after dark, wearing a ski mask.
And nothing else.
The naked weirdo comes charging out of the night at unsuspecting people. Sometimes, he’s content just to give them a scare, but on other occasions, he has chased people while yelling decidedly uncomfortable threats.
What’s truly disconcerting about the masked exhibitionist is that he’s not a newcomer in the area. Some locals say they’ve seen him wreak havoc for at least four years.
Who is the Naked Ski Mask Man? And why haven’t the police been able to catch him?
We’re sure these are the questions that keep the local residents up at night—when they’re not escaping from the butt-naked assailant.
Caught on Video
The Naked Ski Mask Man has become an unwelcome celebrity around Theodore and Tillman’s Corner, Alabama. Located some 12 miles southwest of Mobile, the area surrounding the small communities is rather nondescript, with small neighborhoods and wooded areas.
In other words, our creepy protagonist has plenty of places to hide in.
And that’s just what he does. The Naked Ski Mask Man’s modus operandi appears to consist of hiding or standing around until he spots a potential victim.
He will then come running at you. He will occasionally take off once he notices he’s scared you properly.
Sometimes, however, he’ll go a step further. One woman recently had a harrowing experience as the Naked Ski Mask Man started chasing her.
According to Fox 10, the incident happened near an apartment building on Old Pascagoula Rd. The man came running at her, but as she tried to escape, he sprinted after the woman.
The Naked Ski Mask Man chased the woman all the way to her apartment. As he ran, he kept yelling at her, telling her to get in her home and to take off her clothes.
As the woman reached her apartment, she says the man made one last lunge at her. However, she slammed the door shut in his face and called 911.
The police made a sweep through the nearby areas but couldn’t find anybody. Yet, the Naked Ski Mask Man hadn’t escaped completely unnoticed.
He had, perhaps for the first time, been caught on video. The security camera the chased woman had at her apartment recorded the events, and the pictures were later shared on social media.
A Long-Time Lurker
Sabrina Pendegrass lives in in the same apartment building as the woman the Naked Ski Mask Man chases. She happened to stumble across a Facebook post about the assailant.
To her shock, Pendegrass recognized the man.
Well, she didn’t know who was behind the mask, but she realized she had seen the man before. In 2020, she had managed to take photos of a strange man standing around near a gas station where she worked at the time.
That man, too, was naked, save for a ski mask.
“I got pictures of him butt-naked wearing the same shoes — wearing a ski mask so we still can’t tell who it is,” explained Pendegrass.
“I worked across the street at Exxon. He would hide over there behind Little Caesar’s and behind where he couldn’t be seen at night because I worked night shift.”
Of course, nobody can tell for certain if this is the same man that was behind the recent assault. But come on—how many ski mask-clad naked freaks can there be in one place?
‘About Time This Man Gets Caught’
Pendegrass’ observations do prove, however, that Theodore and Tillman’s Corner have been plagued by the Naked Ski Mask Man (or Naked Ski Mask Men) for several years. There have allegedly also been multiple victims.
Pendegrass said she and the woman from her apartment complex aren’t the only ones who have laid their unfortunate eyes on the creep’s nakedness.
“I’ve heard five or six people say something about this same person. So, it’s not just us — it’s about time this man gets caught,” said Pendegrass.
The Mobile Police Department (MPD) says its officers are combing through the area for clues to the Naked Ski Mask Man’s identity. As he has shown, though, the perpetrator is a slippery one and the cops have so far come up with zilch.
Yet, they have something that kind of resembles positive news. The MPD says they are unaware of any instances where the man would’ve tried to enter buildings or vehicles.
That said, it may only be a matter of time, considering how he chased the woman to her home. For now, the search continues while the Naked Ski Mask Man still lurks out there.
