- What are your roommate horror stories?
Did you have some if the worst roommates? These are the stories that will leave you thinking you want to live alone.
“My first college roommate hated doing laundry, so he wore my underwear
(without asking) when his were dirty. It never felt like my underwear again after he’d been in it.”
We all have chores and adulting to do and it shouldn’t be up to your roommates to make sure you’re in clean underwear. There are some things you just shouldn’t do as a roommate and this is one of them. Don’t borrow underwear, I mean who wants to wear underwear with anyone else?
Most people like to watch their comfort shows on repeat or listen to the song they’re vibing with again and again. But too much of anything isn’t a good thing for you and it will start to bother others if you aren’t careful. For instance:
“I had a roommate in college who used to play ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ on repeat all day, every day, from the minute I moved in to even after I moved out. (I moved down the hall to another kid’s room because this is just one of the super-weird things he used to do, and I still used to hear it constantly playing whenever I’d walk by.) I really used to like that song too, but it’s ruined for me now.”
This certainly isn’t one of the worst roommates but also, please stop.
My housemate still hasn’t gotten rid of his pumpkin from Halloween…
Again with the adulting meaning cleaning up after yourself and taking care of things that are empty or old. This story has to do with Halloween and an old pumpkin. A really old pumpkin. Really old and moldy and rotten and no longer in the shape of a pumpkin. Not only did it smell but it clearly should have been thrown away.
“I had a roommate who absolutely refused to buy toilet paper. After weeks
of her stealing ours, the three of us started hiding it so she would be forced to buy her own. Instead, she started taking heaps of napkins from restaurants and stealing rolls of our paper towels. One night we all went out to dinner, came home, and the entire basement was flooded because she backed up the toilet with god only knows how much **** that shouldn’t ever be flushed.”
Sharing space with people means respecting their things and taking care of yourself as well. This means purchasing the things you need and not using or stealing it from others. And the floor in the basement is quite the consequence when it comes to flushing the wrong stuff down the toilet. I certainly hope they made their roommate clean up or pay to have the mess cleaned up. Gross.
Hey I’ve been shutting of the wifi bc it turns out its really bad for your
health! Sorry about inconvenience. Was trying to only do it after you fell asleep. There’s info on the web about how it can cause cancer, infertility, headaches, and disrupt cell repair while you sleep. (If you’re interested.)
Not everyone has the same ideas or does the same things as others. And we all get mad when the wifi goes out and even more so if we figure out it was our roommate who made that happen. We have to take care of ourselves and we should leave the wifi alone. Don’t do this and be one of the worst roommates.
“I had a roommate who would (attempt to) leave unjustified scathing,
passive-aggresive notes for just everyone- our apartments neighbors, the wonder of cars parked outside, and even our landlady. The kind of notes with overly polite language, underlines, and randomly capitolized words. Always written in red marker. Always rude enough to get the **** beaten out of her. Always signed from both of us. I spent that year following her around and removing notes as quickly and quietly as possible.”
This is not good and we need to let others speak for themselves. If you’re going to write nasty notes, that are only from you, certainly don’t sign your roommates name as well.
