- It happened a few months ago during COVID-19 lockdowns.
Two men were caught trying to enter New Zealand with a trunk full of KFC and $100,000. The men were arrested at the Auckland border after police noticed a suspicious vehicle attempting to make a U-turn and speeding off to evade them.
Auckland is under level four lockdown as of now, which prohibits restaurants from opening and requires them to stay home outside of essential needs and services. Police were patrolling the back roads near the outskirts of Auckland and did eventually pull the men over.
The pair told police that they were headed to Hamilton, a city about a half and hour drive from Auckland. Police searched the car and that’s when they found the trunk stuffed full of KFC, money, and “empty ounce bags.”
According to pictures, the KFC haul had at least three buckets of chicken, a large amount of fries, ten containers of coleslaw and other menu items as well. Holy coleslaw, Batman. Not to mention the $100,000 in New Zealand money, $70,000 USD.

The men, aged 23 and 30, were to appear in court at a later date for breaking lockdown orders. The level four lockdown is set to move down tonight to level three, meaning that residents will be permitted to commute to work and school.
The rest of the country is at a level two lockdown, so restaurants and bars are open, and residents are allowed to leave their homes.
According to the Ministry of Health, Auckland currently has 35 active COVID-19 cases, currently. In Auckland, 86 people have been charged with a total of 90 offenses regarding the level four lockdowns.
That’s not the only craziness involving KFC. Back in October 2020, a man fired shots into a Kentucky Fried Chicken over a wrong order.
The man was driving a Gray Freightliner semi-truck placed an order in the drive-thru, got his food and drove off. The man quickly returned though, demanding a full refund after receiving the wrong order.
The cashier did return the man his money, however, then after pulling off, he fired shots towards the building.
I mean, what kind of people are eating KFC these days?
