16 Most Outrageous Food Challenges On Earth

The success of Travel Channel's Man Vs. Food shows not only do people like watching others gorge themselves to the brim, but shows there are also tons of restaurants out there who dare people to dream big and eat bigger. Here are some of the most outrageous food challenges you may choose to tackle if you've got major ambitions and a big appetite.

1The 8th Wonder and Mt. Olympus Challenges at Clinton Station Diner, Clinton, NJ

Do you have a competitive eating dream team? If so, you might want to assemble the troops to take on the largest burger in the world. This masterpiece of food architecture weighs 105 pounds, measures 28 inches across and stands 11.5 inches tall. This challenge allows you to build a team of up to ten people, but even then, that leaves each person only one hour to scarf 10.5 pounds of food each. So far, no one has conquered this challenge.

For those with a slightly smaller posse, the restaurant also offers a 50 pound Mt. Olympus Burger that can be conquered by no more than five participants and allows eaters three hours to finish.

The prize: The 8th Wonder challenge carries a whopping $5,000 purse – that's $500 a person. No word on whether the price of the $260 burger comes out of your winnings or not.

As for the Mt. Olympus, winning teams can get the $130 burger for free, though the challenge used to come with a $1000 prize.

2The Carnivore Challenge at Big Pie in the Sky, Various Locations, GA

On the other hand, if you have a perfect two-man team, you may want to head to Georgia where you and a partner will have only one hour to work your way through a 30 inch pizza that weighs 11 pounds. It costs $50 to take on this challenge, but it's more than worth it if you finish. So far, only seven people have completed this challenge.

The prize: All winning teams will receive $250, which comes out to $100 profit per person after your entry fee.

3The Big 29 Challenge at Barlo's Pizza, Indianapolis, IN

Want to keep all the glory (and the cash) for yourself? Then try your hand at the single-person challenge at Barlo's Pizza in Indiana. If you can conquer a 29 inch pizza all on your own within an hour, then you'll be a few hundred dollars richer.

The prize: The prize is a minimum of $300 and a maximum of $1000 – the website doesn't say how the payout decision is made.

4The Inferno Pizza at Pazza Bistro, FL

The Inferno Pizza at Pazza Bistro, FL

There are a lot of pizza-eating challenges out there, but where most focus on size, Pazza Bistro went for heat. To conquer this crazy challenge, a competitor must eat an entire Inferno Pizza by themselves within 20 minutes. The participant must even lick the plate and their fingers clean, which wouldn't be so bad if this pizza didn't feature a super-spicy sauce, as well as slices of fresh jalapeños, habaneros and ghost peppers. No napkins are allowed, but you can have one large cup of water.

The prize: Those who can take the heat will win free soda for life, a free t-shirt and their picture will appear on the Wall of Flame for the world to see. As a bonus, you can get 10 percent off all future meals whenever you win the special tee.

5The Fire In Your Hole Challenge At Munchies 420 Cafe, Sarasota, FL

Some like it hot, but few like it this hot. In fact, Travel Channel's Man Vs. Food host Adam Richman could only eat two of the ten wings it takes to finish this eating challenge before he threw in the towel.

The secret to the wing's stepped up heat is the chef's use of extract from the ghost pepper, the hottest pepper in the world. As if that wasn't bad enough, contestants can't use milk to kill the burn.

The prize: Nothing more than having your picture hung on the wall of fame, and avoiding the wall of shame, which is where the losers of the challenge will end up.

7Big Fat Fatty at Fat Sal's Deli, Multiple Locations, CA

We love a good sandwich, but a 27 inch sandwich that weighs 12 pounds would be enough to feed the entire Oddee staff. At Fat Sal's though, you're expected to eat the whole thing on your own.

So what's on this monster sandwich? Cheese steak, cheese burgers, pastrami, bacon, chicken fingers, mozzarella, fried eggs, jalapeños poppers, onion rings, chili, marinara sauce and Fat Sauce. Of 800 people to have taken this outrageous challenge, only two professional eaters have succeeded.

Once you're done with your soup, you can move on to the Death Roll itself, which is a spicy tuna roll stuffed with ghost chili powder, Demons Blood sauce, two diced habanero peppers, a diced ghost chili pepper, and topped with a diced habanero pepper, a diced ghost chili pepper, "Hot Streak" Death Sauce, the restaurant's own "Heat Seeker" sauce, more ghost chili powder and a side of Death Sauce topped with Demons Blood. Big eaters tend to have big appetites, but that shouldn't be a problem for any woman that can conquer the breakfast burrito challenge at Jack-N-Grill since she will be rewarded with free food for life at the restaurant. Of course, it takes one seriously dedicated man or woman to conquer this monster, which features five pounds of potatoes, a pound of ham, a dozen eggs, a whole onion, chili and cheese. Adam Richman of Man Vs. Food wasn't even able to take down this baby-sized burrito.

The prize: Any successful competitor will get the $20 burrito for free and have their image hung on the Wall of Fame. If the competitor is a female though, she will also earn free food for life from the restaurant.

There are a lot of food challenges out there that ask you to make your way through a massive steak, but the most legendary is the one at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. The Ranch asks you to not only eat a 72-ounce steak, but also a buttered roll, a shrimp cocktail, a baked potato, beans and a salad.

Why those specific sides? It all started when the restaurant held a one-pound steak eating contest in 1960. The winner swallowed his first two steaks in ten minutes and requested all those accompaniments before stepping up to his third, fourth and fifth round.

The prize: Match this feat of fattiness and you'll score the entire meal on the house.

13The Full-o-Bull Platter at Cowtown Diner, Fort Worth, TX

Eating a four pound, record-breaking, chicken fried steak smothered in gravy is no easy task on its own, but to complete the Full-o-Bull challenge at the Cowtown Diner, you can't stop with just the main course. In fact, entrants must also finish six pounds of mashed potatoes and 10 slices of Texas toast. So far no one has beaten the challenge, but almost 200 have tried and failed.

14The Kidz Breakfast at Jester's Diner, Multiple Locations, England

Weighing in at 9 pounds, the Kidz Breakfast was so-named because it weighs as much as a small child. The prize: Finish in 45 minutes and you'll be immortalized on the Wall of Fame, score a free tee and get your Bomb for free.

16The Zellagabetsky at Kenny and Ziggy's Delicatessen, Houston, TX

What makes this challenge special isn't just the size of the 4 pound sandwich or the fact that it's loaded with corned beef, pastrami, turkey, roast beef, salami, tongue, and Swiss cheese and cole slaw. It's also the identity of one of the three people who have completed the challenge – none other than legendary big man Shaquille O'Neal.

The prize: Let's hope you saved some room after this big boy because you just earned yourself a free slice of cheesecake (no joke).
