Eating out is such a thing of normalcy. Or at least it was until COVID, when all restaurants, bars, and eateries shut down.
Many businesses quickly went the way of takeout and curbside service, but now many localities are slowly allowing dining out.
This is the perfect time to search out and eat at some new, delicious, and weird restaurants. Yup.. weird. From condoms to robots, these are the weirdest restaurants.
Cabbages and Condoms
Eating here is “guaranteed not to cause pregnancy.” This weird restaurant of course has condom-themed decor, including flowers with Trojan petals, and wait staff wearing inflated condoms, on their heads. There are no after dinner mints for you, but you are obviously encouraged and expected to take a condom as a sort of doggy bag, thank you for visiting type goodbye.
Heart Attack Grill
This Las Vegas restaurant couldn’t be in a better place. I mean, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas..including calories? The waitresses here are underdressed like sexy nurses. Combine that with the food and it’s sure to raise your blood pressure. The dishes here is full of artery-clogging, four-patty Quadruple Bypass burgers. If that’s not “bad” (unhealthy) enough, get this. If you weigh more than 350 pounds, you eat here for free. Yike.
All you have to do is travel to Tokyo, Japan, to visit this weird, and awesome (if you’re into robots,) robot restaurant. There are strobe lights, thumping music, and wild dance performances by robots and half-naked women. I mean, what more could a robot lover want?
Dinner in the Sky
So I’m all for thrill rides, thriller movies, and other crazy things like jumping out of a plane, but this restaurant is even a little much for me. It’s a place to eat, hanging from a crane. Ya. And there are various locations of this exact type of restaurant. You eat strapped in and suspended high up in the air. Three chefs will cater to you and your party, which seats up to 22. This crazy crane restaurant serves everything from sashimi rolls to steak dinners.
Ninja New York
This restaurant of course is in New York itself. According to a New York Times review, this place is described as a “a kooky, dreary subterranean labyrinth… You are greeted there by servers in black costumes who ceaselessly bow, regularly yelp, and ever so occasionally tumble.” The waiters walk around and perform tricks, all which serving sushi and sake. The place is designed to look like a 15th-century Japanese feudal village. It’s full of dark nooks and snaking passageways, and is known for it’s Japanese fare and martial arts flair.
Cat Cafe Nekorobi
Another restaurant in Tokyo Japan that’s weird but really caters to its customers, if you love cats that is, is this cat cafe. This coffee shop will make you swoon with joy and cuteness. Patrons enter through modern glass doors into a dimly lit joint where cats prowl and sprawl. There is a drinks dispenser vending machine with hot and cold drinks including coffee, royal milk tea, instant miso soup, and green tea. To witness the dinnertime ritual where the kitties feast on cat food in glass food bowls arranged in a circle around a floor lamp, visit in the evening. This place is clearly the cat’s meow for any cat lover.
This bar restaurant is right here in Milwaukee WI and well the outside won’t wow you, it’s the inside where you’ll have an experience. This spy-themed restaurant is based on the CIA definition of a safe house, meaning it’s a seemingly innocent premise where an intelligence organization conducts its covert operations in relative security. There is no sign advertising Safe House and you need to know the password to enter the place.
There is nothing more wild, or weird, than the restaurant hanging from the crane. Which weird restaurant is the first one that you want to try?
