10. Barry Wilson Dies in Shark Attack
In 1952 Barry Wilson was brutally attacked by a shark off the California Coast. Wilson and a friend were swimming about 40 feet from the beach when the 17-year-old was jerked under water. Witnesses claim they saw a shark attack Wilson from the front, lifting him from the water before dragging him under again. Wilson reappeared in a massive pool of blood, screaming, and flailing.
Fellow swimmers got Wilson to shore after a 30-minute trek though the rough waters, allegedly with the shark keeping close the entire time. Sadly, Wilson died before reaching safety, having bled to death from the deep wounds to both of his legs and back.
