4.) The beautiful colors of fall come from the amount of sugar in the leaves. When you see a read leaf that looks as if it’s on fire, it’s such a bright and beautiful red, that leaf is full of sugar. This is what helps maple trees to look so gorgeous and vibrant because all the maple syrup is sugar. For evergreen trees that don’t change color, their leaves had a thick and waxy covering that protects the chlorophyll (green) in the leaves and hence, prevents them from changing color.
