During World War II, British scientists conducted anthrax research on Gruinard Island in Scotland. The island became contaminated and remained restricted for decades before decontamination efforts allowed access again.
The U.S. Planned to Drop Nuclear Bombs on the Moon
During the Cold War, American scientists considered a proposal known as Project A119, which investigated the possibility of detonating a nuclear device on the Moon. The project was never carried out.
