Bigger is better, right? Well, not always, as excess size can render things completely unusable.
That said, putting something ridiculously huge on display does always attract crowds. That’s why people around the world keep building comically oversized versions of everyday objects.
Here are 9 examples of some of the oddest world’s largest things.
1. World’s Largest Fork
The world’s largest fork sure is one enormous utensil. It measures 35 feet tall and weighs 11 tons, being made out of stainless steel. You can’t eat with it, though, since it’s embedded in the ground in Springfield, Missouri.
That said, the title for the world’s biggest fork is heavily contested. There’s a 40-foot-long fork in Creede, Colorado, but that’s made of concrete – not exactly a food-grade material. There’s also 37-foot fork in Fairview, Oregon, that weighs only two tons, making it a featherweight compared to the Missouri one.

2. World’s Largest Nutcracker
The world’s largest nutcracker is brand new. It was unveiled in Luverne, Minnesota, on July 21, 2026.
Dubbed Verne the Patriot, the nutcracker is a towering 66 feet tall. Its name is a reference to its clothing, as the nutcracker is dressed in stars and stripes, much like Uncle Sam.
Verne is functional, too, having an articulated jaw that could crush a nut. You’d be hard-pressed to find nuts big enough for him to crack, though.
3. World’s Largest Hammock
The title for the world’s largest hammock goes to the enormous piece of stretched fabric that hung up in Prague, Czechia, in October 2025. Measuring 76 feet long and 33 feet wide, it had an area of 2,508 square feet.
How many people can it hold, you ask? At most, the hammock held 103 loungers at one time. But it did have space for more.
4. World’s Largest Game Boy
One of the reasons for the Game Boy console’s enormous success was that it was small enough to take with you. Belgium’s Ilhan Unal, however, wanted to make the compact gaming machine huge and unwieldy. So he did.
In 2016, Unal constructed the world’s largest Game Boy, which measured 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. And yes, it’s completely functional and can run games from original Game Boy cartridges.
5. World’s Largest Pac-Man Game
Here’s another gaming-related size record: the world’s biggest Pac-Man game. This game, however, is not physical.
Instead, the record belongs to WorldsBiggestPacMan.com, a collaborative gaming experience launched in 2011. It features interconnected Pac-Man screens that you can play through, all bundled into one platform.
In total, at the time of setting the record, the game had 4,014,144,000 pixels across 62,721 mazes. It’s only grown since, though, as users are free to build and submit new levels.
6. World’s Largest (Operational) Mousetrap
The world’s largest mousetrap is a real behemoth. Constructed in Germany in 2013, it’s nearly 20 feet long, 10 feet wide, and weighs 1,911 pounds.
However, the weirdest thing about it is that it works. The ginormous trap functions all the same as a regular mousetrap – it’s just supersized.
You know, that does raise an uncomfortable question about how big German mice are.
7. World’s Largest Book(s)
When it comes to the world’s largest book, we have a couple of competitors. The first is This is Prophet Muhammad, while the second is I Am Texas.
This is Prophet Muhammad measures 16 by 26 feet, weighs more than 3,300 pounds, and boasts 429 pages. The gigantic tome records the life and deeds of, you guessed it, Islam’s Prophet. This book, however, isn’t published in the traditional sense – it was just made.
The world’s biggest published book, then, is I Am Texas. It’s no slouch either, being 7 feet tall and weighing 496 pounds. Published by the iWrite Literacy Organization in 2022, it contains stories about life in Texas penned by the Lone Star State’s primary school students.
8. World’s Largest Yo-yo
Were you a real yo-yo master in the ‘90s? You should put your skills to the test, then, with the world’s biggest yo-yo in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Constructed by one Beth Johnson, the world’s biggest yo-yo – featuring a Captain America-inspired paint scheme – is almost 12 feet in diameter. It weighs a whopping 4,620 pounds, but you can still play with it.
Yes, the yo-yo is entirely functional. Granted, you’ll need an equally enormous crane to be able to use it, but it works.
9. World’s Largest Cowbell
As you’re no doubt aware, most songs need more cowbell. To supply sufficient amounts of ding-ding-ding, we have two candidates for the world’s largest cowbell.
The officially recognized huge cowbell is located in Germany in the village of Kleinschmalkalden. Measuring more than 10 feet in height and topping 2,000 pounds in weight, it was built by the local artisan cowbell manufacturer Venter-Glocken. There’s a unique business idea for you if you were looking for one.
However, there is a bigger bell. Belle’s Big Bell in Belle, Missouri, is 15 feet tall and weighs 6,000 pounds. For some reason, though, it hasn’t received official recognition, but it’s certainly larger than Germany’s artisan bell.
