People’s Opinions About Black Friday These Days

  • The day is now what it used to be, even ten years ago!

What are your opinions about Black Friday and when was the last time you cared about it? Has it always been a thing for you and is it still?

Black Friday used to be a huge event, people would wake up in the middle of the night ready to scour the stores for their purchases and even rip them out of the arms of other shoppers if needed. But what about people’s opinions of Black Friday and when they last cared about it these days?

About Black Friday? Or about life? For Black Friday, about 2 years ago.

Probably when the Nintendo Wii came out, which was 20 years ago.

It’s been 84 years….

2009 would be a generous estimate. Does this match the last time you care about and had opinions about Black Friday?

Hmm, probably 2019? My husband and I went to a Walmart and were there with the crowd and everything. We were so disappointed to discover they had brought in bins of “new items” they didn’t usually sell, just for the event, and acted like they were such great savings. I’m talking cheap pajamas, winter outfit sets, cheap cookware. We never bothered again.

When they started in on Thanksgiving!

Never cared about black Friday. Its a time for me to avoid stores. I prefer shopping just after Christmas if at all.

Friends, it’s time. We stop spending. We starve the machine.? From Nov 25???Dec 3 we put our wallets on pause. ? From Black Friday through the first week of December we say: no more feeding the system.? Let silence at the checkout be our protest.? Let empty carts be our message.? Let reduced consumption be our power. This isn’t just about skipping one sale. It’s about reclaiming our agency. It’s about reminding the corporations: You depend on us, not the other way around. So choose not to buy. Choose to invest your attention, your money, your values somewhere else. What do you think of these opinions about Black Friday?

Choose collective strength over daily compliance.

I care now more than ever so I can get some deals on toys and such for my kid lol. Before? Not a whole lot, I’d treat myself to something nice.

When it was first a thing in the UK I was curious to see if I could get some mental deals, but Amazon always has stuff on offers anyway it’s just the same old thing. Do you agree with this opinion about Black Friday?

I’m horrible with money so I’m almost always broke Black Friday so I’ve never cared. I actually was decently prepared this year but then some family stuff happened…and rip whatever i was going to get myself.

when i was a teenager and i didn’t even have my own money to spend so probably sometime around 2017

Never cared until this year because of RSD black Friday

Once, maybe three years ago. I got myself some cheaper webspace and a few domains. We don‘t have „black friday“ here, they start with black weeks, black months, black hours whatever, just to sell it „cheaper“. Usually it‘s the same discount they‘ll give under a new name. Guess same goes for my webspace, but that thing is used at least ;3

About 10 years ago when I was looking to buy an ebook reader. Don’t remember if I even found a deal on one. Black Friday sales are garbage anyway. I’m in Canada, so Boxing Day sales after Christmas are generally just as good or better. What are your opinions about Black Friday?

Never really… I worked retail receiving dock for way too many years. It is like the battle of Helms deep in the Two Towers and really fuck people, they suck. ESPECIALLY when shopping on Black Friday… a kid and mother got trampled one year. Luckily they didn’t get hurt badly, but ugh… hate humanity on the best of days. Black Friday fuckers are the worst.

16 years ago because I was working retail and absolutely no one was allowed to take Friday off- and we had to clock in at 4:00am (my usual shifts ended at 2am, so it was extra brutal). So forget traveling to be with family for thanksgiving. I cared how stupid and completely hypocritical it was.

The last memorable one was I think 2015 ?, myself and my cousin took some acid (gel tabs) and were frying pretty good at Walmart and my old ah grandma and uncle were snatching TVs from people lmao that was a good thanksgiving weekend.
