- As a kid, it’s a parent’s “job” to make holidays magical. As an adult, we realize that we need to make our own magic….or not. I couldn’t figure out why I was so down during the holidays until I realized that I wasn’t making my own magic. You certainly don’t have to, but my dog and I wake up to a lit Christmas tree, Christmas carols, decorate cookies, good food, etc. Then we spend the holiday with the family I enjoy spending time with. Adulthood takes work in all areas, unfortunately. Good thing is this one is optional.
- I love Christmas. Spending time with family, sitting by the fire, eating good food and having drinks. Feels like it’s acceptable to be nice and lazy for a change. It has such a cozy feel for me.
- I don’t like how holidays start getting advertised months ahead of time. I don’t want to see my first Christmas add until at the most the day after Thanksgiving.
- If you’re avoiding family and getting drunk around christmas and upset that you’re single, I think this one might be more on you. I think if you spent more of your focus on changing the things in this post, you’d have a nicer time each holiday season. I hope things get better!
- You don’t have to love Christmas, but I can’t imagine being so miserable that you openly despise the one holiday every year where people are supposed to be happy and kind
- I use to love Christmas. I too now despise it. It’s all a money grab. Advertising, marketing. It’s bull. I don’t even believe in what we are celebrating for. So for me I minimize all of it. It’s difficult when everyone else still spend a shit ton of money to try and make others happy. I agree with you wholeheartedly!
- Absent religious meaning, it’s a very shallow holiday for many people. Do you agree with this and actually think about Christmas this way?
- I love the Christmas season! I love decorating and listening to the music. I love buying presents and sitting in front of the tree.
- While I like Christmas, hearing a Christmas advert in the middle of September is fucking crazy. Imma need Christmas to hold off until at least after Halloween.
- I have to agree. Christmas music is shit, christmas movies are dull, and gift culture sucks. Consider not having anyone a perk of making it easier to just not partake in any of it.
- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Make Christmas every 4 years like leap years. That way, people will actually care about it.

- Dude, you just need a hug. I’m someone that lives away from his family for work and is currently single with no kids. Last Christmas i spent it alone. I still liked the feel good nature of the times and easier work schedule. Everyone’s happier, there are bright lights and decorations, just relax. Do you think this is what others actually think about Christmas?
- Man we are complete opposites i guess nothing nears waking up in a warm bed looking out at the fresh snow on the ground soending quakity time with my amazing family i have no kids myself but am super close with my parents and brother who has a son that i spoil and can buy gifts for i also enjoy buying gifts for my family and to some extent recieving them from them as well. I work retail and people gemuinely seem more jolly and kind as well its just the perfect time if year

- I don’t mind the Christmas vibes as long as they stay away from the super commercialized stuff like Mariah Carey and those Christmas centric ads.
