- National wellness month is celebrated in August and these are all the best ways.
August is national wellness month, and good thing. Whether you have recovered from COVID, have COVID, or never got COVID, we could all stand to be more well, and here’s how.
Drink Water

I know, it seems too easy probably,. Well, that and, you’re sick of hearing it. Drink enough water, drink enough water, it’s literally shoved down our throats. But it’s because it’s true. Water makes up the biggest percentage of our body and it’s hard to drink too much on the regular. Plus, staying hydrated will keep headaches at bay, cut down on mindless snacking, and keep your skin bright and hydrated, too.
Get Outside
This one seems easy too, but the science behind us getting outside proves that it’s true. Have you ever spent the day outside, whether at the beach or hiking and picnicking, just to be dead tired and sleep the best sleep that night? Fresh air wakes us up and the sun does everything from help our mood to regulating our sleep schedule. Also, it feels great to get outside so do what you can do spend some time outside each day.
Be Grateful
It may sound cliche, and maybe it is, but the thing is, think happy, be happy. It really works and it’s easy to do. Just think about the things that you are truly grateful for, I even say mine out loud. From little things like being thankful for that first sip of coffee, to big things like answered prayers, reminding yourself of all that you have is a sure way to feel more well.
Talk to Your People
Really though, friends, family, coworkers, or even your fave gas station worker, if they make you smile and they are a fun part of your day, talk to them. The best thing you can do for your wellness is surround yourself with people that love you, want to see you succeed and cheer you on in life.
Sleep and Rest
There is nothing as good for your body as adequate sleep, rest, and recovery. How much sleep you need is different for everyone but one thing is sure, sleep is essential for us all. Lack of sleep can lead to getting sick, headaches, body aches, lack of attention, restlessness, and a heightened emotional state. Naps are good, too, though so if you need a little extra rest, indulge. The best thing you can do is listen to your body, and while keeping active making sure to adequately rest as well.
Exercise
People hate the answer that the only tried and true health hack is to eat well and workout regularly, but it really is the truth. And when you workout even semi-regularly, you really need to recover as well. This includes days with no exercise, sleeping, stretching, all the water, and extra protein if you lift. Don’t underestimate walking as a great way to keep active and on the move. Add in any and every movement you like to mix it up and keep yourself interested, or just stick to walking if that’s what you love.
Growth
Whether muscles or mindset, the best way to stay preventatively well is to keep growing. Read things that you love and that inspire you. Try new things and find new passions. Go out of your way to be the best that you can and never stop trying. If you know your calling in this life, then get after it, otherwise do all the things until you figure it out. Fulfilling your place and constant growth is the best way to go through life.
Laugh
This is a big one. Laughing physically makes us feel better and who doesn’t love to laugh. Your immune system will thank you, too. Laughing also helps you cope with stress, live longer, and reduces your risk of heart attack and stroke. This has to be the absolute best tip for national wellness month!
Although August is the month we nationally celebrate wellness, preventative care is the best way to stay well. Start with water, breathe and smile, and don’t forget to go for a walk.
