1Hook-up apps Tinder and Grindr see a spike in usage during the DNC
Not unlike Cleveland during the RNC, hook-up apps Tinder and Grindr have revealed a massive spike in activity coinciding with the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Grindr usage shot up by 148% in the vicinity of the Wells Fargo Center, where Democrats gathered to officially nominate Hillary Clinton for president. Bed-swapping Dems also accounted for a 54% increase in the number of people using Tinder in Philadelphia this week.
Say what you will about political parties bringing people together — it appears Tinder and Grindr are actually delivering!
2The conservatives who failed to separate fact from fiction after spotting Bradley Cooper at the DNC
It's called acting, people.
Fans of the Oscar-nominated film American Sniper were incensed to see actor Bradley Cooper attending the DNC. Cooper played the highly decorated Navy Seal Chris Kyle, and the movie is a favorite among Republicans.
Cooper, a known Democrat who has contributed to many a party cause in years past, was spotted by TV cameras listening intently to speeches during the DNC. Conservatives took to Twitter to voice their outrage:
I have a list of celebrities that support Socialism I refuse to spend another $ on. Add this one. Boycott them all. pic.twitter.com/uOFMkxSvRY

Couldn't be more disappointed in #BradleyCooper (@BradleyCooperUS) for attending #DNC. Proved he is not worthy to tie Chris Kyle's boots.

Responses to the outcry came fast and furious:
The fact that Republicans believe #BradleyCooper should be a Republican because of his movie role show how detached they are from reality.

News flash: Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a robot and Julia Roberts is not a prostitute #BradleyCooper #gop

3The former Michigan governor who gave the wackiest speech of the DNC
Former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm started off with a potentially great speech but soon went off the rails when she broke into song, adapting a civil rights movement credo by belting out "I shall overcome," and then did impressions. "Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me," she said, in a mock baritone, before saying "Donald (Trump), you're so vain, you probably think this speech is about you," as she referenced a Carly Simon song. C'mon, we're not going to cringe all by ourselves here, are we?
4Trump threatens to take all comers who disparaged him at the DNC
Not one to remain silent, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump promised a good, old-fashioned American ass-whoppin' on speakers at the DNC who disparaged him.
At a campaign rally in Davenport, Iowa, Trump said, he wanted to “hit a number of those (DNC) speakers so hard, their heads would spin.”
“They'd never recover,” he said.
He especially had it out for one speaker, who is believed to be ex-New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. “I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy,” Trump said. “I was going to hit this guy so hard his head would spin; he wouldn't know what the hell happened.”
Trump said this individual “came out of nowhere” and had done work with him in the past. “He made deals with me. ‘Will you help me with this? Would you make this deal and solve the problem?' I solved the problem."
We look forward to any impending throwdown.
5The comedianne who gave a shout out to Howard Stern at the DNC
Comedienne Sarah Silverman, an ardent supporter of Bernie Sanders, offered an endorsement to Hillary Clinton during the DNC, and she had a few unscripted words for the crowd.
After telling “Bernie or Bust” delegates they were "ridiculous,” Silverman ended her turn in the spotlight with a shout out to Sirius XM radio shock jock Howard Stern by saying "Baba Booey" at the very end of her speech. "Baba Booey" is the nickname of longtime Howard Stern Show producer Gary Dell'Abate, and it's become a way for fans to make their presence known at high-profile events.
Stern was delighted with the tribute, saying, "There was a huge moment in Howard Stern Show history last night...This is probably the greatest Baba Booey shout out ever, I think."
6The former Green party activist who held a "fart-in" to protest Hillary Clinton's nomination at the DNC
Poverty activist Cheri Honkala hosted “the world's largest ‘fart-in,'” during Hillary Clinton's nomination acceptance speech, as a "silent but deadly" rebuke to the Democratic nominee.
Before the event, she held a "massive bean supper for Bernie Sanders delegates. The Sanders delegates, their bellies full of beans, will be able to return to the Wells Fargo Center and greet the rhetorical flatulence of Hillary Clinton with the real thing.”
And how did it go? The people have, uh, "spoken." Take a look for yourself:
7Ohio Congresswoman Joyce Beatty wore Melania Trump's dress to the DNC
The ultimate in shade or just an honest mistake? Twitter was rife with cries of "plagiarism" during the DNC when Ohio Congresswoman Joyce Beatty showed up in what appears to be a dress recently worn by Melania Trump.
Beatty said that her husband had bought the $2,190 Roksanda design and told her to wear it. “Now it's blowing up all over the nation that it's the same as Mrs. Trump's, but I don't know,” she said.
8The ex-city councilman who was arrested at the DNC for stealing
Just before the start of the convention, an ex-Harrisburg, PA city councilman, Brad Koplinski, was caught stealing parking passes and food vouchers from a media logistics operation for the event.
Koplinski was caught on security cameras using a press pass from last week's RNC to enter the convention center, where he stole several passes. He's been charged with burglary, trespassing, theft, and receiving stolen property and is due in court for a preliminary hearing in August after posting $10,000 bail.
9DNC convention-goers duped by a "gluten-free zone"
According to Gawker media, whispers of a so-called “gluten-free zone” in the Wells Fargo Arena where the DNC was held trickled across Twitter. But it was not meant to be — despite the area created for said zone, there was no gluten-free food to be had. DNC staffers reported that there was going to be a gluten-free area, but the order wasn't put in soon enough, so the shelves remained bare throughout the convention. Ah, politics — just a tangle of bureaucratic red tape and a string of empty promises!
