Mehran Karimi Nasseri, the man who lived in Charles de Gaulle Airport for 18 years

Mehran Karimi Nasseri was stranded in Paris' international airport when his home country of Iran expelled him for protesting the Shah in 1977. Originally a refugee in Belgium, he decided to resettle in the UK in 1988, but had his documents stolen which in transit in Paris. Barred from entering the UK and refused reentry into Belgium, Nasseri became stranded in Charles de Gaulle until he was hospitalized in 2006. His story was one of the inspirations for the movie "The Terminal" starring Tom Hanks.
