Zsolt Erőss, who have reached top hills in the Himalaya with one leg

Zsolt Erőss is the most successful Hungarian mountaineer, summiting 9 out of the 14 eight-thousanders. He is also the first Hungarian to have climbed Mount Everest in 2001.

In 2010 he lost his right leg in an avalanche accident (while he saved other fellow climbers), requiring amputation under the knees. Soon after his recovery he came back to mountaineering, trying to summit the Cho Oyu in fall 2010. The expedition did not reach the top due to bad weather conditions, but later in May 2011 he successfully summited the Lhotse, fourth highest mountain on Earth in Nepal.
