Water bowl to slow down bus drivers
A bus company in China has launched a new 'drive safely' campaign - by hanging big bowls of water next to their drivers. The Longxiang Public Bus Company in Changsha, Hunan province, says drivers must drive gently to avoid spilling any water. Bus drivers are expected to ensure the bowls are still full when they finish their shift. And the company warns drivers that CCTV footage will be studied to make sure they do not top up the bowls with water.

Striped painted donkeys to compensate the lack of zebras in the zoo
There were two crowd-pulling zebras in the Marah Land Zoo, who unfortunately died of hunger. Since they were one of the main attractions of the zoo, which boasts a dozen animals, and there was no money to replace the dead animals, the zookeepers were very concerned, until they came up with an unusual solution. Now there are two white donkeys dyed with black stripes to delight Palestinian kids at a small Gaza zoo. With their long ears, drooping heads and sleepy eyes, the impostors probably would not have fooled the zoo's only lioness. But the effect achieved by the zoo owners' dye job looks not so bad — to the unpracticed eye, and from a distance. The two female donkeys were striped using masking tape and women's hair dye, applied with a paint-brush. A genuine zebra would have been too expensive to bring into Israel-blockaded Gaza via smuggling tunnels under the border with Egypt, around $40,000 to get a real one. Gaza's Palestinians are impoverished by their isolation under an Israeli embargo against its Islamist Hamas rulers, who refuse to give up armed resistance against the Jewish state.

Zip holder to prevent your fly coming open
The problem of your fly accidentally coming open really only dates back to the invention of the zipper. But even if it's not an 'age old' problem, it's still a problem, particularly if it's ever happened to you. So this simple solution created by Lisa Sjövall seems so obvious that you have to wonder why it hasn't been thought of or even incorporated into pants already. The ZipHolder is basically an elastic loop that fastens to the pull tag on your zipper. When it's done up, the loop is placed around the button on your fly which prevents the zipper from accidentally coming open.

Although at first glance this concept does not seem to be fair for women's needs, the good news is that the P-Tree can reduce the queue at the porta-pottie. The inventor suggests that it can be hooked up to a central sewer system, but an onsite infiltration system would be a great way to safely dispose of the liquid and nourish the trees with nitrogen at the same time!
