Diatomaceous Earth
(Reader Contribution to 10 Disgusting Common Ingredients In Cosmetics)
Saying we should be disgusted by diatomaceous earth because it's a component of dynamite is like saying we should be disgusted by water because it's a component of urine, which is totally ridiculous reasoning - DE is not dynamite, it's not explosive.
That said! DE is actually the skeletons of tiny creatures - millions of them. Their skeletons are very sharp and pointy, which gives DE a great exfoliating quality.
