Range May Tip - Explanation
(Reader Contribution to
15 Stupidest Warning Labels)
This label is actually necessary. It has become a new US Government requirement that anti-tip brackets be installed for all free-standing ranges because unfortunately a couple years ago 'Appliances Tipping Over' became one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the USA. For ranges it shouldn't be surprising considering most of the old fashioned Cast Iron Stoves have finally been retiring in the past few years - ranges that weigh a few hundred pounds and could easily be used as a stepping stool for children and some adults. The modern 30" ranges don't even weigh a hundred pounds (they weigh at around 80 lbs).
