Blair Barcode - a factual note

I commissioned the Blair Barcode ad on behalf of NO2ID in 2006. We (and our agency, Escape Partners) are happy to be noticed in such splendid company, but "most complained" may not be accurate: We had eight (8) complaints in total to the ASA, and five (5) direct to us. There may have been some overlap. I don't think that makes us most complained-about. There may have been some overlap. The ASA rejected the complaints (all 8 of them), accepting we were entitled to be rude to Blair in order to draw attention to the detail of his policy.
That it ran once only, three years ago, was nominated for an Anna, and still gets picked up like this is a credit to Escape's superb execution of an idea so simple it could just have easily been a disaster.
Sad to say, HM Government is still struggling to implement its population registration scheme, but this ad represents the point when the tide started to turn against it.
